Uh....I assume he held all the views expressed in his shows, but he was mainly just a comedian/humorist.

Hicks really wasn't such a great guy. He was just very liberal, and in some ways very ignorant. He was also totally unwilling to listen to views of others.

Wouldn't doubt it, but he was still a great comedian. But it's true that he definately appeals to a liberal audience. I can't imagine Larry the Cable Guy fans appreciating his stuff (just like I can't appreciate Larry the Cable Guy).

Love Bill hicks. Got more appreciation during his life in the UK than he did in the US sadly. Very funny but also had a great point to make.

How about a positive LSD story, that would be newsworthy. Don't you think? Anybody think that? Just once, to hear a positive LSD story. "Today, a young man on acid, realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves... here's Tom with the weather."

As for what VZA says, I'm not sure how he was supposed to listen to the views of others while delivering a one man stage show. I'd forgive you if a lot of stuff goes over your head though as you're young and a lot of it probably would have gone over my head at 15.

I don't get calling him liberal like it's a bad thing though:

Hahaha^
Yeah nice extract.
I only saw some text on the Jedi Mind Tricks website
And really agreed with his views and laughed as well.
That's why I thought he may be in politics...diddn't realize he was a comedian.

I remember the part of the text said something like :

"I know Children Are The Smartest People On The Planet...
Because I Don't Know Any Children Who Have Kids And Full Time Job"

R.I.P. Bill Hicks
16/12/61 - 26/02/94

"The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: "Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we kill those people."

*************

"People say "Iraq had the fourth largest army in the world". Yeah, maybe, but you know what, after the first 3 largest armies, there's a REAL big fucking drop-off. The Hare Krishnas are the 5th largest army in the world, and they've already got all our airports."

*************

"Fundamentalist Christianity - fascinating. These people actually believe that the the world is 12,000 years old. Swear to God. Based on what? I asked them.

"Well we looked at all the people in the Bible and we added 'em up all the way back to Adam and Eve, their ages: 12,000 years."

Well how fucking scientific, okay. I didn't know that you'd gone to so much trouble. That's good. You believe the world's 12,000 years old?

"That's right."

Okay, I got one word to ask you, a one word question, ready?

"Uh-huh."

Dinosaurs.

You know the world is 12,000 years old and dinosaurs existed, they existed in that time, you'd think it would have been mentioned in the fucking Bible at some point.

"And lo Jesus and the disciples walked to Nazareth. But the trail was blocked by a giant brontosaurus... with a splinter in his paw. And O the disciples did run a shriekin': 'What a big fucking lizard, Lord!' But Jesus was unafraid and he took the splinter from the brontosaurus's paw and the big lizard became his friend.

"And Jesus sent him to Scotland where he lived in a loch for O so many years inviting thousands of American tourists to bring their fat fucking families and their fat dollar bills.

"And oh Scotland did praise the Lord. Thank you Lord, thank you Lord. Thank you Lord."
