HOW IMPORTANT DOES A PERSON HAVE TO BE B4 THEY ARE CONSIDERED ASSASINATED RATHER THAN JUST MURDERED?

OR

DOES IT DEPENDES WHO THE KILLER IS?

well an assasination is a murder.

its termed as an assasination, because of the person who does it. an Assasin is a hired gun, and trained killer.

Assassination is the targeted killing of a high-profile person. An added distinction between assassination and other forms of killing is that the assassin (one who performs an assassination) usually has an ideological or political motivation, though many assassins (especially those not part of an organization) also demonstrate insanity. Other motivations may be money (contract killing), revenge, or a military operation.

the person killed as the be a symbol for something, and the killing of that person has to be a move against him/her as a symbol or against the movement or thing they represent. So you have to be trying to kill the 'idea' of that person and not the person.

like if MLK would have got in a fight over a parking spot, then shot, he would have been assassinated.

or with Tupac dying, if it would have been against what he stood for then it would be assassination day i stalk my enemy like prey, but from the evidence presented it appears to be an attempt to kill the person more then the idea cause he did some ignit shit

Yeah thats what I was gonna say...
You really don't have to be that important to be "Assassinated"
It is more to so with the calibur of "Killer" performing the act.

Any one can murder someone...
But few can perform an assassination.

I've always looked at it as in "Tenchu"
An assassin is unknown to the victim...when the act takes place.
And normally with one swift movement takes out the target...not a person.

Where as a murderer would look the victim in the eyes
Have some emotion towards the person ect...
And it would be more of a bloody mess.
Compered to the Assassin who would be "Clean" & "Professional"
Also their agender too...where they would usually be taking orders or given information
About the target...Instead of it being independent and it being personal.

Hence the reason why "Famous People" & "World Figures"
Get assassinated instead of murdered.

PEACE

well if google is you best friend, then wiki is yawr gal:
the up to date definition has been already posted I think, but for me the most interesting about something is always its etymology:
Etymology

Main article: Hashshashin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashshashin)
The term 'Assassin' derives from Hashshashin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashshashin),[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assasin#cite_note-2) a militant Ismaili (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ismaili) Muslim sect, active in the Middle East (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_East) from the eighth to the fourteenth centuries. This mystic secret society (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_society) killed members of the Abbasid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbasid) and Seljuq (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seljuq_dynasty) Úlite for political and religious reasons.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assasin#cite_note-3)
It is speculated that the assassins were under the influence of hashish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashish) and opium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium) during their killings or during their indoctrination; assassin may derive either from hasishin, the influence of the drugs, or hassansin, after their leader, Hassan-i-Sabah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hassan-i-Sabah). Hashishinnya was an offensive term used by its Muslim and Mongolian detractors to characterize the cult.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)]
The earliest known literary use of the "assassination" is in The Tragedy of Macbeth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tragedy_of_Macbeth) by William Shakespeare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Shakespeare) (1605).[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assasin#cite_note-4)[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assasin#cite_note-5)

they smoked it cause only ppl who were high would attempt to go kill a prince or governer. because more often than not the assassin would be killed while doing it. so in them days it really meant certain death. a guy whose mind was straight would never attempt such a mission.
