Most consistent would have to go to Vanilla Ice, his whole career has been consistent except for that small blip with that one song....

My vote for most consistent in a positive way would have to go to Tech N9ne tho. He is and always has been a beast on the mic.

imo that album was a peak time for both Common and Dilla. Thats when they both went Rogue. Thats when they both went hendrix with it.

We needed that. We need that shit again on the real.

Its comparable to when the beatles started getting out there and IMO wrote some of their best shit.

I agree on GFK. His style has certainly elevated since his beginnings and he consistently says what he wants to say and how he wants to say it. Plus he's loyal to the art of mc'in. Honorable mention to Black Thought as his style is pleasent to listen to and has no need for change and updating. Highly underrated and definitely not a gimmick.

how can u guys say that? yeah, he hasn't released a really wack album, but that doesn't mean he is the most consistent...the most consistent rappers never had their peak and never will

so Sage Francis wins. But because I'm on a Wu-Tang forum and most of you just dislike somebody cuz he's different, I'm gonna say, show me one wack Sage Francis verse, and you'll win.

Ghostface Killah made Ironman, OB4CL and Supreme Clientele, but he isn't on that level anymore...+ plus the quality of his tracks lately aren't really in a straight line..

I still say El-P and Cage, and of course Black Thought. I could easily show how they never let anybody down plus all of them are great performers.

Would anybody agree on MF Doom, MF Grimm or Mad Lib tho?

DR. NICK RIVIERA
08-05-2008, 04:57 PM
all others were good, but not classics, like the first two. I said, he didn't keep all of his material on the same level, what happens with most rappers, but not all - Redman won't fall for nothing, as it seems.

Ghostface was A-game on 8 Diagrams tho.

MF Doom, MF Grimm, Insight, Mr Lif, Black Thought, Guru, Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D, GZA, KRS... are all names that spring to mind when I think of rappers who've never really dropped anything bad. Overall I'd say as far as being consistant for a long time and quality actually getting even better rather than fading, I give it to Masta Ace.

Nas is consistantly good on the mic but also seems to pick consistantly average beats.

The Roots(Black Thought), Masta Ace, Jean Grae(how did you guys leave her out?), MF Doom, Gang Starr, EPMD, Black Moon, Cocoa Bros.

these are the ones that spring to mind for me ......meaning that every time I put on an LP by these artists I more than likely listen to the whole LP of any of thier material...

also what are the parameters?

I mean yeah Andre 3000 is dope but he has not released a solo LP so does that count?

Thought is the main MC in the Roots

plus all my choices have extesive catalogs...

Ghost is nice but Big Doe Rehab was trash Bulletproof Wallets was way better and let us not even talk about the Pretty Tony LP, that alone knocked him out the box for me

Redman if Red Gone Wild was not released he would have made the cut but that shit was trash also.

as an outkast fan i have to agree. every rapper says they love 3000 now, and it always seems like they're dissing big boi somehow by not acknowledging him. go back and listen to any outkast track, big boi had deep shit as deep or more than 3000, his flow and voice is ill. well they're better together anyway, it will suck if they don't get their shit together and make another album.

i dunno i think the reason people shit on big boi is because hes not as out there with his appearance as 3 stacks, i think that has an effect on it, people go ohhh 3000 is so artistic with his dress, but big boi dresses regularly for a rapper most of the time so they just say yea he's good but he aint that deep, i personally prefer Big boi to 3000 myself
