Dead serious question. Not trying to put anybody down, start shit or be controversial. I'm interested to see what people think.

I'm not a big internet forum user or anything, but I have spent at least a short period of time at several different forums which were based around various different pastimes or musical groups/artists. I'd have to say that at every non-hip hop forum I've ever posted at the people were just normal, real, respectable and likable people, who went about their business with no hidden agenda or attempt to portray themselves as anything other than what they were. I can't remember ever getting into a non-constructive argument or being spoken to disrespectfully for no reason, on any non-hip hop forum, ever.

Yet at every hip hop forum I've ever posted at there's been quite a large proportion of people who are fake fuckwits who constantly talk shit, act disrespectfully to strangers, try to act hard, pretend to be something they're not, and give people attitude knowing full well that in real life they would act completely differently in order to avoid having their teeth knocked out like they would if they carried on in such a way.

Why is this? Is it a reflection of the way certain rappers try to portray themselves? Or does hip hop simply just attract a lot of lowlife, simple minded, fake fuckwits? Do you disagree with me and think that hip hop fans are generally as respectsable and real a group of people as any other?

Drop your thoughts if you have something constructive to contribute. I'm sure there'll also be a few replies that will exemplify my point.

its the demographic that it attracts, internet + hip-hop brings in a type of poster, in my opinion anyways, plus the fact that hip-hop heads believe they have street rep/cred and need to protect that at all cost, even on line, like i said its just the type of person that these forums attract.

on another note here is some brazilian fart porn (herd stans dad talk about it on southpark, can believe it actualy exists)

budding fake fuckwits are attracted to the popular music and the low-brow culture of hip-hop which reinforces retarded behavior by promoting the kinds of values (bravado and machismo in particular) that produce full-fledged fake fuckwits.

The themes appeal to them i guess.

The same way regular, straight laced white guys are attracted to hip hop.

You only have to read the posts on this forum. People saying they are uncomfortable with skinny white people liking Wutang because they aren't "hard" for example. A gifted scholar once said "come to Brick City, it makes the Middle East look like a playground".

I think that pretty much sums it up.

uh, yeah, its cause the attitudes hip hop artists have. they think those things are cool and therefore try to immitate it.

i only say what im not to get pussy.

and even then it's hard for me. I'll be in minnesota next week. Im either going to be Neyo's little brother Demetrius, or the little brother of a B- list celeb who's famous but hasn't done anything in a while, like Omar Epps.

I think a certain (gay) section of hip-hop fans act though and ignorant coz thats what they hear on their favorite rappers albums, and how being strong and getting money is the way to go, and being weak in any way or overly showing emotion that isnt as a responce of you being a scumbag when you where younger.

i.e feeling sad about being a dealer and selling your own mother crack = ok to show emotion, not weak

feeling sad about being constantly dumped by women and being a loner = not ok to show emotion, weak, needs to be attacked

This is only a small section though

And also the people who listen to Lil Wayne, Jeezy, 50 Cent etc DO come across as being very ignorant, they like being comman and think coz loads of people like something it makes it good, so they shit on people who like acts that arent as popular

Humor what the fuck? I sadly lack God's gift of hilarity I try and compensate

with overuse of ridiculous language which out of the goodness of my heart

and for the benefit of mankind I don't patent.

TSA is right about the attitudes. I would moreover say that hip-hop is the most egocentric genre of music. It's just in its nature as well as how it was created. At times we don't want that high degree of egocentricity in it and that is why some people resort to some of that "backpack rap". I guess that ego pours over into the fans.

Similarly, this was one of the initial ideas behind creating the Vatican users here. One part of it is the "contributions" to the forum which seems to always get exaggerated in what defines contribution. The other is to try and reward the people who long have been those real and respectable posters who don't try to post with a gimmick and put other posters down all the time.

On the other hand the concept to hip-hop is to try to put a twist on everything you do. Those "real" people are then the squares and the so-called "fuckwits" are the colorful characters that bring that twist and become popular posters to some. But then you can go further and say most of those "fuckwits" aren't doing it right and then you get into another circular argument.

But a "good" community is a good community. Most (hopefully) wants to be apart of a good community. Those that choose to stay in a relatively more troubled community are usually the ones trying to improve it.

If you live in a more troubled environment you don't need to greet people out of your place the same way. For example, RAMISH has no excuse saying who he's going to kill on this message board no matter how the conditions are in his physical environment.

You think the posts on forums are retarded?...you should read the ones on youtube, ultimate retardation.

I also agree, I never commented on a video but sometimes I read the first page to entertain myself.

Bragging, boasting and dissing people is part of hip hop and it's fans seem to have adopted that attitude in their way of communication. Although it's mostly hip hop people, at some heavy metal forums users tend to act agressive and disrespectful towards eachother as well.

Maybe they're listening to their gangsta rap or death metal while posting those messages, either way, it's pretty much pointless to engage in discussion with those imbeciles.

Some interesting replies. I too think it's mostly just a reflection of the way many rappers try to portray themselves. I am also guilty of occasionally getting caught up in reading page upon page of outrageously ridiculous comments on Youtube.

It is painfully obvious that "fake fuckwits" are just trying to overcompensate in areas which they are lacking. Now i have to agree that bravado is a necessary element to hip hop, but there is a difference between intelligence and deserved achievement as opposed to just spouting off random shit for the sake of cred.

This is a really good thread actually, glad it's here and not KTL.

It's basically the crowd that hip-hop attracts IMO, and by that I don't mean "gangstas". Look at SKAMPOE, he's far from gangsta, he's just the certain type of person easily manipulated by hip-hop rhymes. He's a WHITE 5%er................

I'd say the LARGE majority of youth that listen to hip-hop don't/didn't have a stable home life, or start an impressionable age. Sounds ridiculous, but check around this forum, whether drugs were involved in youth, parents together, mental disabilities like dyslexia and ADD, I reckon a large majority would say yes. Teens are already impressionable and hip-hop IS a bad influence on kids, despite what Nas wants you to believe (It's not the ONLY bad influence but it is).

They get a hip-hop syndrome because their favourite rapper is gangsta. Look to now, everyone's about "I GET PAID NIGGA" now that it's become the cool thing in hip-hop. Everything down to fashion ffs. Humans have a sheep mentality and feel the need to fit in, if it's cool to be gangsta because Ice T said it is then they're gonna wanna be gangsta.

Some say hip-hop is a reflection of the streets but it works both ways, the streets turn to what hip-hop is doing at the time, shown by fashion.

Most the people who listen to hip-hop aren't gangsta, some listen and don't wanna be gangsta, but for some it's the only way they've felt they've been able to fit in.

PS: No offence SKAMPOE, not saying it's "bad"
PPS: Not saying I'm better an excluding myself

DJMethods

Just also wanna add, I grew up FAR from good and despite being an arrogant, self righteous prick, I don't think I'm gangsta at all.
