My favorite one so far. These are to very different tracks but they both use the same drum sample, but they both rock the drums in pretty different ways. RZA made them sound gritty and edgy, Dilla made them sound bouncy and warm.

Cant find a youtube of the OG song (Detroit Emeralds - Youre getting too smart, but ive got the mp3)

Common - The Light

Raekwon - Incarcerated Scarfaces

Another famous producer, Eric Sermon, also used this break for Keith Murray song "Beautifullest thign in the world" but it just isnt anywhere near as good a beat as the two above. Eric really got schooled on how to let this drum break breath by RZA and Dilla. You cant compare Sermon's effort really, its up against 2 classic beats. This is a good example on what seperates a great producer (RZA and Dilla) from good ones (Eric Sermon).

Imma hand my vote to RZA. Theres just somthing classical about the sound of that beat. Its perfect, its like haunting, classic minimal RZA, just bumpin in a little sound here and there to set it off.

I like Dilla's take on it. Not saying Rza's was bad or that Dilla's was better, I just like Dilla's more.

Damn it's such a hard choice. Both beats are incredible... I might like the Dilla beat a little more but RZAs kick bangs a little harder... although maybe that's because he doesnt have a bassline going on. Gotta hand it to Dilla personally.
