...What is your favorite track on Illmatic? (Vote and lets find out what the corp thinks)

I have a really hard time picking my favorite... each song is amazing. If this has done before, my bad, i couldnt find a poll on it.

btw Heres a really good article breaking down the production of Illmatic: http://www.ohword.com/blog/926/deconstructing-illmatic

The World is Yours.

The hardest question is the weakest track, but I guess that one would go to One Time....

Even though I voted Memory Lane, I think It "Aint Hard To Tell" deserves to win. Its defintely the best produced track on there when you break down how it was made, technically its amazing how Large Pro mixed about 5 diferent songs perfectly. And the way he flipped up MJ's vocals aswell like he did was fucking crazy.

why do people like It Ain't Hard To Tell so much?... for me that's the most annoying song on the album, both the other Large Pro beats are better to me.
but as for the original question, that's too fucking hard, I gotta go listen to this now to decide

I considered One Love, and now regret not voting for it cause it has no votes.

It ai,nt hard to tell. And right after that one Memory Lane.
At first i like most the ny state of mind cause it was so grimy and it is battle rap.
but then i checked out the rest and now i prefer these chill songs like it aint hard to tell.
i could listen it all day long

I cant beleive One Love doesnt have any votes. Dont you niggas know how revered Nas verses in that song were in the game.

One Love is dope. But that is one of those songs you must listen to it,
but for example i put memory lane and just vibe with it and enjoy the flow, same with the world is yours and it ain't hard to tell.

damn i'm gonna be seeing Nas next sunday, anybody on here seen his live performance recently?? ..hopefully he will pick some classics out of the catalouge like the Illmatic joints, Nas is Like, 2nd Childhood, You're Da Man, Made You Look, Get Down and all that good shit as well as more recent tracks from Untitled and Hip-Hop Lives (2 albums that I really like).

What? damn, i guess its an opinion thing but I dont understand how that track isnt a favorite. that beat is masterful, Large Pro takes that MJ sample and makes it into some dream like shit and Nas slays it. Nas raps should be locked in a cell. great way to end the album.

What in the fuck is that supposed to mean?

i think he means you have to listen to the lyrics of One Love to really appreciate the song, u cant just listen to the beat or whatever

DJMethods

Man I wanna change my joint to One Love. Listening to right now at work, it is a lyrical master piece. Nas is godly when he spits like this.

i saw him last year when 'Hip Hop is Dead' was fresh out, he did like most of the album did a bunch of tracks off Illmatic and other classics shit from his catalogue. He went a pretty long time.

I bet he'll do similar with his current shows

It is a tough question. Every song on that album is top notch. It's between ''The World is Yours''..."Memory Lane"...''One Love" ..."It Ain't Hard To Tell''. Hmmm I'll be back with the answer lol.
