Oh, I wouldn't say. It's just that hardcore rap was so much better than today, commercial stuff in 80's (save for honorable exceptions like Run DMC, Special Ed or Young MC) was even wacker than today - you had such abortions as hip-house or such shit.
Mainstream hip-hop had its pinnacle somewhere '93-'94.
