I just looked at what's the current USA #1 hit, I saw the name of the song and I had that toilet impulse.

My Life Would Suck Without You

I mean, seriously. Have we gotten that far? What's next, some 1337 ballad?

Guess this means you’re sorry
You’re standing at my door
Guess this means you take back
What you said before
Like how much you wanted
Anyone but me
Said you’d never come back
But here you are again
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you

Maybe I was stupid for telling you goodbye
Maybe I was wrong for tryin’ to pick a fight
I know that I’ve got issues
But you’re pretty messed up too
Anyway, I found out I’m nothing without you
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you

Being with you is so dysfunctional
I really shouldn’t miss you, but I can’t let go
Oh yeah
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you

I just noticed this shit is another one done by Dr. Luke. Man that motherfucker is Soulja Boy of pop music. I only can't decide if these songs become hits because today's teens are so goddamn retarded or if it's a planned campaign of dumbing down kids. Anyway this shit really gets me depressed.

it's the times we live in. the 2000s are heavily commercial and material, so popular music will reflect that.

though the record execs trying to dumb down kids make sense.

stupider music requires less talent, and is easier to make, therefore the money's easier to make. you dumb down the population so the dumb music speaks on their level.

nah I'm just saying - look at that quality of song writing back then [like Soundgarden in the '90]

I can't name one band as good now.

I was gonna say about ALL the acts that stayed tuff throughout the years.

I am never at a loss for good music. there is tons of stuff I still dont know about. Its endless. To bitch about the state of music in your current day is somewhat of a lazy statement to make. To me , it seems that the person that is willing to say "rock (or even hip-hop) is dead" just hasnt heard it all. There is too much to go through. You could die and never have heard all the music of your time.

There is plenty of great music out there. Plenty. Popular songs sounding like trash won't bother me aslong as the bands I like keep making good music.
