that mod beat is fucking serious

03-23-2009, 03:59 PM
Voted Shogah , I also liked MOD's and Prime's and 7th's

03-23-2009, 04:07 PM
Some nice beats in there, some rather crappy ones if I'm honest...for me Tracks and 7th's beats caught me the most, I really liked the drum work on 7th's beat, but my vote goes to tracks cuz from emcee perspective his beat made me wanna rock the most...it's always a hard call and that's what I go with.

Props to all for participating tho...keep these battles going, they were soo ill last year and I was really hoping they weren't just gonna fade away....

Not that Im aware!!

Ok, a few words for every joint:

501 Gold

Nice vibe, it reminds me on some of those chill beats from It Was Written.
I could definetly see some big name rapping over this.
Good output.

Sounds simple, but yet very progressive and captivating.
It has similar feel to the 501 joint, and i like it even more.

I'm on laptop currently and i don't have required java for myspace, so i'll post it later

My favourite for now. Sounds like some premier beat, i enjoyed that listen

WOW I LIKE HOW IT SOUNDS. Many interesting sounds, maybe most interesting beat. Kicks are too rugged for my taste

It's obvious you put a lot of work in this beat, very versatile, but too chopped in my opinion. It is quality output, but i don't see someone rapping over this beat.

Quite opposite of grandmantis. Simple and catchy, but as i sad simple.
If you flipped it somewhere in the middle and made some breakbeats i would definetly gave you my vote.

Similar to G.O.D but it has a different dramatic vibe, could fit nice on some storytelling rap.

If it is your first sampled beat as i understood it's nice job. You should just keep those snares with the rhytm, maybe some different type of kicks and snares would do it better for me.

My vote goes to Tracks and M.O.D and Prof. Rhino are close second.

just peeped em...

gotta cosign sinapse on this one... to keep it 100 this was a pretty dissappointing round.. alot of predictable beats, some solid ones too..

Tracks joint was fresh and 7th came with it...

on the strength of creatviness my vote is 7th...

this is a tough one to call cos there isnt a standout beat in my opinion, I mean at the end of the day its a battle and I can pick holes in all of them and at the same time i can find a lot of positives in a large handful of the beats!!

Game had the best mix down by far IMO but also the most used chops in this round,

Tracks had a nice original beat but I think his kicks where a touch heavy in the mix and it was also a bit mellow for a battle,

Shogah dropped an original sound but his drums sounded weak in the mix,

Pro.rino came with an original beat as far as the samples where concerened but at the same time it was very Rza'ish,

501 used a nice blend of both but it was a bit mellow for a battle IMO

Prime's was a little bit out there but it grew on me and at least it was HIS style, well mixed but the chops he used where also the common.

BrokenWrists was very similar to Games but the mix could of been a lot better IMO

Killbot well........... you did alright man, your drums where a bit iffy, the snare was off and they didnt blend it too well into the sample but for a first go at sampling you did ok man!! you got a bit experimental with it which is cool, keep working on it man!!

My vote goes to MOD original down to the drums and well mixed and also raw enough for battle with those uptempo gritty drums!!! you got a talent for merging mellow and raw and making it work man!!

Nice to see some new blood as well!!! Hope you all come back for april!!!

Went with Prime on this one. Tracks and 7th were the runner ups.

03-24-2009, 12:46 PM
not sure who 501 is, but nah we are not the same person. thanks for the 2 votes that i got so far.

03-24-2009, 02:31 PM
1st choice is M.O.D. for best use of the samples, cause that seems to be the point of beat battles, ultimately. The beat had a good vibe to it too, maybe not the easiest out of all of them to rhyme over. Tracks came close, your beat would be my 2nd choice no doubt. Good drops all around for the most part tho.

03-24-2009, 09:57 PM
everyone was dope

honestly, to me it came down to prime and prof. rino

both had dope drums and tempo, which is essential to me. not taking away from anyone elses drums, but i was writing at the time, and both those beats helped out tremendous, even tho the change up was different in terms of BPM, but yeah, good shit everyone.

even killbot who gets shitted on alot, but from what i can decipher is a youngin and only has room for improvement. he's got sports potential. which is to say the intangibles, but will the desire and talent persevere over the years?

BWAHAHAHAHA nah kid keep it up, i still ripped a verse to your junt

i ended up going with prime.

03-24-2009, 10:16 PM
gotta go with 7th

had the freshest vibe.

03-26-2009, 03:41 PM
Yeah , my bad if anybody misunderstood what I was saying about Tracks and 501. I wasnt trying to call anybody out. I had forgot about how there is a soundclick just for these battles and when I logged in to the page twice I was like wtf.

Common mistake.

04-03-2009, 01:41 PM
