What on earth does that have to do with having a healing factor? someone please enlighten me.
lmao? what r u talkin about? its a seperate trait.
its all related to him being a really feral character...wolf/dog/bear/wolverine like. The wounds from his claws comin out heal up.

As far as retcons go this is easily one of the most retarded. So because he is a "feral character" that somehow equals claws made of solid bone...hmm, you see, him getting the admantium claws as a side effect from the metal bonding made sense to me (as far as crazy comic fiction can be) but if it was just because he was feral, wouldn't Sabretooth have the same ability?

Sabertooth's claws don't pierce his skin I don't think
They just rectract and extend like a cat.
But with Wolverine, I always thought in order to have the claws (and not bleed to death)
His hands need to heal because his skin is pierced.
pardon me for thinkin the bone claws make more sense/and or dont make for a stupid retcon.

No need to get defensive Dusk, people can think what they like, im just trying to spark a debate. Comics are always making retcons and I know that it's necessary to keep the stories up to date but imo I just think this particular one doesn't work.
What do the rest of the wolverine fans think?
not gettin defensive, im just confused as to y ur confused.

it dont. i think they just wanted to incorporate wolvies claws into his mutant power set.kinda like spider-mans ability to shoot webs in the movies.
a mistake, in my opinion.i like the whole spec ops killing machine idea better. (for the origin of the claws)
i'm with you, tauro. i never liked the bone claws idea, or the name james. wolvies one of my all time favorites, but i'll never refer to him as james.
now i get it...eloels, thought you had all those posts deleted.

originally Wolverine was an evolved wolverine. like a real animal made into a man, claws and all. that was rewritten.
the bone claws are an artifact from that.

^^^^they never ran with the evolved wolverine idea though, and as someone who just read a bunch of old claremont x-men about two months ago, they obviously never intended for the claws to have been anything other than a bionic enhancement...i like it better that he had the claws though, i hate everything else about his new origin.
and yeah main_man, he's not james howlett, pussy boy from new england or whatever the hell, he's logan.
03-29-2009, 04:46 PM
actually they did.
in multiple issues there are references to his mutated animal status.
what they didn't run with was the bionic claw idea.
i dont mind the james howlett story either...think its semi interesting.

i mean damn... everyone is a kid a some point. right?
there had to be a time when he was just a frightened child dealing with being "different" like all the other x-men.
Logan, unlike the other x-men, found his strength on his own without the helpof the professor.
i'd like to see that evolution.
people are just more into the mystery that was associated with his origin...not knowing was cooler for some people. the guy is 200+ years old....still mystery in there somewhere..eloels

I don't have a problem with the origins story, they could have just made the same story and left out the rediculous bone claw angle and I would have been fine with it.
ok so thats my thing with ur opinion (still respect it) i can see y u dont like it, but not y u think its ridiculous.

It just makes no sense given his mutant ability, thats all.
ya i guess, what about Nightcrawler...dude has a fuckin devil tail, and he teleports.....(hes blue btw)..? eloels.

^^^ya they retconned that his father was a demon, and his mom was some gypsy witch
and ya my main issue is that i would've rather him continued to just be mysterious, although style has a good point, that he would've been a scared kid at sme point regardless...but i disagree about the evolved animal status, i literally read uncanny 94-245 (ish) and nowhere do they mention the evolved animal thing (although i agree that was the plan having seen that mentioned by claremont, byrne, and len wein in interviews), although up until around the time paul smith or john romita jr does the art they mention 'bionic claws extending from housings in his forearms' almost every single issue...unless i'm mistaken (which i could be, most of this stuff was out before i was alive or reading comics) the weapon x story is the first time it's made reasonably explicit that his claws aren't an enhancement.

Yes I remember that story about Nightcrawler, I seem to recall not alot of people liking it but I thought it was ok.
