Definately one of the best hiphop albums if not they best in the new millinium. Its definatley one of my favorite wu albums. About every track in there is dope as hell...."nutmeg".."one"....."apollo kids" to name a few. Ghost was one of the very few emcees that came with a great sophomore lp.

NutMeg - 4/5 - Nice opener
One - 5/5 - Banger, that other guy is weird I love that part at the end
Saturday Night - 4/5 - nice short song
Ghost Deini - 5/5 - I love this beat MAARVIN MAARVIN! I always sing along to that. My favourite on the album. I like superbs verse alot "Could you please tell god that we fucked up here!..."
Appolo Kidz - 5/5 - Banger
The Grain - 3.5 - Its ok
Buck 50 - 3.5 - For some reason i dont like it that much, cappas verse is horrible and meth is "meh" on it. Red and Ghost kill it but it goes on too long.
Mighty Healthy -5/5 - WHEN WE HUG THESE MIKES WE GET BUSYYY! Beat is vicious
Stay True -5/5- I love stay true, the chorus is tight and the beat is beautiful
We Made it - 4/5 - good song, dont really like superb on it.
Stroke of Death - 4/5 - I like this one, I dont understand the hate. RZA rips it everybody else does great too
Malcolm - 5/5 - 2nd favourite on the album
Childs Play - 4/5 - Love how ghost gets all nostalgic in this one
Cherchez La Ghost -4/5 - Crazy song , mad danceable (which most ppl here seem to hate)
Wu Banger 101 -5/5- Classic

4.8/5 lol the only song i dont like that much is buck 50

Grand Masters, Heavy Mental, Supreme Clientele and No said date are the 3 greatest wu-tang albums to come out after Wu-tang Forever...

but out of those four it's my least favorite...

it's a pure classic...

Put this CD in, and you'll be nodding your head to the true brilliance of Ghostface. This is one of the most enjoyable albums you can listen to. From beginning to end, Ghost gives you the nonsense rhyme combined with the street style, and occasionally a really good story along the way. No, the beats on here aren't the style of Ironman's, but never could you in any way hate on this aspect.

Fuck it, I think this album is a classic. 10/10

ShaolinDarts
02-14-2006, 10:05 AM
The most entertaining cd to come from the Wu Tang by far. Ghost shows an almost arrogant type of energy in this cd. This cd is all about Ghost and how none of his peers can even come close to him when he is out to entertain. SC includes everything from story telling to crazy word play to funny back to serious and everything in between. 09/10

Sure is a chillin record. This was the one the RZA had less to do with, unless I'm mistaken (correct me if i'm wrong), and was released in the same year as Ironman too (again, if i'm wrong, shoot me down). With all this in mind, it came out and had me wondering which was better for quite some time. I settled with Ironman (9/10) but this came a close second (8.5/10) which ain't bad. Up there with the classics, but perhaps taking a slightly different road from that of a traditional Wu classic, if that makes any sense.

Nutmeg is great, I love the grain too dont see why people arent mentioning that... 'we at the opera, queen elizabeth rubbing my leg, had ketchup on her dress from my whopper'. I like stroke of death too.

overall its my favourite wu-solo album... this changes but I really love this album, only complaint is the skits on tracks 10 and i think 16 arent really needed, and I dont think Ive ever listened to clyde smith all the way through.

Check this out! I am an actor and I have been blasting auditions and open mics with the skit of Clyde Smith. I don't know who it is on the album Ghost or Rae. I think it is ghost, others say it's rae, whatever...
I tell the people I am performing for the monologue is from the play called the dis, written by Dennis Coles. This is the album that turned me on to Wu. Then I listened to Forever and have been hooked every since. Much props to ghost for changing the game.

It was a nice warm day, but I stayed inside bangin' this album outta my speakers...
Unforgettable...
And why y'all don't like Stroke of Death, that beat is fuckin' ill!!! One of my favourite tracks on this classic album.

I prefer Ironman to this

i'm in agreement.

people always say how this album is certified classic, best work from Ghostface. but to me there are 2 problems. The first is that i think it is too long, and the second (which somewhat backs up the first point) is that there are too many skits. Lyrically Supreme Clientele might have some shine but Ironman is definately the more classic LP

This album REALLY grew on me since the first time I heard it. I can never decide between this and Ironman, but at the moment I feel SC flows better as a whole album. This was the album that really solidified ghost's status as one of the top mc's in the industry imo.

Damn one of my favorite Wu-albums of all time, i love it equally much today as the first time I played it (remember how it all restored are faith in the Clan). All the tracks are bangers (i love that 3 tracks are almost short like intermissions which might not have been as good if they would have been longer). I even love the fucking skits on this albums, I still listen to it without skipping them (one of the few albums that I don't curse the artist for putting them on their).
There is only one rating for this album right here: [I]5/5

I honestly think this album is overpraised
I enjoyed Ironman far more than Supreme Clientele
My favorites on this one were One, Nutmeg, and freakin' Mighty Healthy
the production and the depth of the lyricism on Ironman outweighs this in my books though

I listened to Supreme Clientele for the first time today, and I'll give it 8/10, not a bad beat on this and Ghost's delivery is almost immaculate (as immaculate as it gets with Ghostface), but a little bit more variety would have been appreciated.

Not the Classic everyone says it is on first listen, but I wouldn't expect it to hit me on first listen, and I'll definitely give it another go.

P.S.Was it a song on this album that contained 'RZA's most esoteric verse ever' or something?

JerseyIronman

Its tough comparing this to 'Ironman' - they are very different albums. Ironman came out when Wu were at their abosolute peak. Right inbetween Liquid Swords and Forever. Ghost had nearly complete production from RZA and plently of Wu guest spots mainly from Rae and Cappa.

Supreme Clientele came out when many thought Wu were done for. Alot of people think it was Wu's last great release. SC was much more of a Ghostface solo project. (only 2 tracks with Rae and 4 tracks produced by the RZA). Also the production is alot different. Ironman has a very soulful feel to it. alot of keyboards. SC has alot of throw back boom-bap but it also polished and flashy. 'Ironman' has alot of different themes like misogynistic 'Wildflower' posse cuts like 'Assassination Day', 'Winter Warz'. lightspeed raps on 'Daytona 500', and then also tracks like 'Camay'. SC is most characterized by Ghosts' abstract raps. I still dont understand half the lyrics ...but that shit sounded ill!!

Probably the two tracks that separate these albums the most are "All I got Is You" which is the deepest track Ghost has done, and maybe the deepest Wu track ever. Shit is very deep. On the other hand, Cher Chez La Ghost was a club banger, from the Wu ...in 2000!

I really liked the skits from SC. Some the greatest skits ever. The old school cartoon clips like the one in the beginning are classic and really help to set the mood, which is really important for any great rap album.

At the end of the day i think i give 'Ironman' the edge, cuz of bangers like Winter Warz and the realness of 'All I got is you'. But its not easy to do considering the style and significance of SC, where we saw the armor clad superhero of the free world come and make Wu-tang matter once again.

This album is FAR better than Ironman in everyway. Ironman is dope no doubt, but is just Wu by numbers to be honest, and Ghost is nowhere near his best, and it really falters towards the end.

SC really goes beyond the Wu sound and incorporates so many elements. Musically its insane, and Ghost? Since when did rapping nonesene ever become so dope? He makes absolutly no sense on 'Nutmeg' and 'One' yet it sounds fuckin amazing.

Production can be hard, soulful, abstract, anything, wheras Ironman is just the more hardcore Wu sound which we all heard been done before.

Ironman is the Wu fans favourite, and SC is the more general hip-hop fans favourite, i think.

I disagree a bit. I dont think its fair to say Ironman is Wu 'by the numbers'. The Wu sound got alot more experimental when u compare it to past albums like Cuban Linx and Liquid Swords. It really wasnt "just the more hardcore Wu sound".

If anything i think Ironman is scattered conceptually where Supreme Clientele is concentrated

On the other hand I think the production on Supreme Clientele is not as diverse really. its alot

Crazy album. Didn't expect to hear what was on it. Was too deep for me and didn't listen much. Put it on later and 'Ah - now I get it'. A true classic.

I have a strange disc of this too. It is a gold cd with wording like 'final mastered version' or similar. Found it in a charity shop in London. Cant recall exact wording and it's currently in my loft but always wondered if it was a rare version or final studio cut or something.

Grand Masters, Heavy Mental, Supreme Clientele and No said date are the 3 greatest wu-tang albums to come out after Wu-tang Forever...

but out of those four it's my least favorite...

it's a pure classic...

though not as good as ironman in my oppinion...

I'm listening to this as I write (for about 5th time straight!). In my earlier review of BDR I was pretty negative and felt I should relisten to check that was fair. It wasn't - but next up in the library is SC!

And the point being....This could well be the Epic of all Epics in the Wu catalogue. Never thought I'd say that.

Nah I love his amateurish singing on this album.

Nutmeg - 5/5 Ghost gives us flow lesson on this one, rhyming words that are....unrhymable

One - 5/5 Classic beat, ghost's flow is again remarkable, especially on second verse.

Saturday Nite - 5/5 Short but effective.

Ghost Deini - 5/5 I love this beat. It needed some time for superb's verse to grow on me.

Apollo Kids - 5/5 Not much to say, classic banger.

The Grain - 3/5 This song never grew much on me. It sounds like a tribute to old school, but i never found this song fitting for the rest ot the album. But the Ghost/Rza combo on this album is phenomenal, so this song manages to pull out solid 3

Buck 50 - 4/5 I never found the beat on this song to be anything special, and being that this is rza production it didn;t fulfill my expectations. Cappa, Meth and Red came alright but nothing special. ghost simply outshines them.

Mighty Healthy - 5/5 Classic movie sample, beat is great, ghost is again in his crazy mode.

Stay True - 5/5 This beat is perfect for Ghost and his wandering type rap.

We Made It - 5/5 Very catchy song, with catchy hook. Great guest appearances.

Stroke of Death - 5/5 Now this is something different. This song is uncompromisingly different from the rest, and because moments like this, this album is classic.
I love how rza comes in.

Malcolm - 4/5 The beat seems kind of unfinished. It is not catchy like rest of the beats.
Ghost is on his level again.

Child's play - 5/5 This may be my favourite song of the album. This is out of this world.
The beat change on second verse is beautiful

Cherchez LaGhost - 3/5 this could be longer, but it suits the album perfectly. Party song with crazy vocals.

Wu Banga - 5/5 Wu Banga.

I would point out at the star of this album. Rza.

And not so much because his beatmaking, mixing involvement, but because his verses.

He was truly in top form and his verses on nutmeg, grain, stroke of death can be considered for some of the best on the album.

Supreme is the most creative album Ghost ever made. It just drips with eccentric word play over soul-ressurected beat like fuckin' marble cake B. Changed my life, raise the level of what I though rapping could be aaaaaand little known fact that the production on this album is what inspired KanYe' and Just Blaze the beats on The Blueprint 1.
