I don't think any of 'em are doper than the Virtua Fighter series.


When it comes to depth and control I just don't think any other game can outshine it. From what I've played Dead or Alive comes closest.

I'll be honest in that I stopped paying attention to MK after a while but I'm sure I've played that one and the execution of those different fighting styles left a lot to be desired (from what I remember)

I'm talking about how Aai and her being akido you can barely land a hit on her on the hardest levels because that's how it is for real akido masters, they'll make you pay for every punch or kick you throw. I dig the realism of it all.

Personally I prefer the 2D ones.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 is the best I've played personally.
Guilty Gear X2 #Reload is up there as well.

Mortal Kombat was excellent till they went 3D they are horrible doing 3D animation
King Of Fighters got a lot of characters but always lack graphics it suck bad and takes the fun away (lets see how good is it now with the updated graphics on the new game coming on July its gonna be great)

Street Fighter is the most technical, addictive fighting series ever. I've played almost every fighting game, the only ones that would come close are Tekken and Samurai Showdown. MK fell off after Ultimate, although 9 looks to have ressurected the series somewhat. Fatal Fury is definitely worth checking out. Geese Howard is a fucking cunt though.

Overall the VS series and SF are the best, because their battle mechanics are the greatest, they are the most fun to play, they have the coolest line-up of characters and Capcom is awesome with animation and special effects. The only problem is that their games lacks content and story. Which is too bad considering that SF have so much potential story wise. Just look at the SF mangas. They are very good to the point that Capcom have taken some characters from those mangas and added them into the series.

After those 2, i think Tekken and Soul Calibur follows. I think of these 2 as the best of the 3D fighting game, because they alway have great graphics, the control scheme is very simple, superb animation considering the characters have over 60 moves, great content, character creation and roster edit, the characters designs actually fit with each fighting style.

Althought I haven't played any Tekken game after Tekken 4, I think I enjoyed the Tekken series most.

Best and most technical fighting game I've played is DOA4 though. Which at first sight may look like a boob bouncing simulator, but the game is actually very technical. Not your average buttonmasher. There are many different countering options and self constructible combos. All the moves blend into eachother seamlessly and the game has some of the most ridiculous throws. Just watch these tag throws.
