whats your definition of commercial....
the word gets thrown around a lot....
odiously shit like soulja boy - kiss me threw the phone is a no brainer....
but some shit people call commercial surprises the hell out of me...
so what makes a paticular artist or album commercial 2 u....
who are some "underground" (or whatever the term opposite of commerical would be) artists that have gone commerical give some examples with your definition...
thanks

commercial rap is any form of rap that is made strictly to profit from, hence the tag commercial

One must realize there are two types of MCz:
Artists and Businessmen (example? Andre Benjamin vs Jay-Z)
one must never be confused with the other.

Commercial is basically anything that appeals to wide ranges of people.

from websters:
-viewed with regard to profit
-being of an average or inferior quality <commercial oxalic acid> <show-quality versus commercial cattle>
-producing artistic work of low standards for quick market success

Anything on radio these days. A long time radio would actually play Tribe, then maybe Too Short followed by Wu. They actually would break new artists & records. And the music would vary exposing the listener to a lot of different hiphop.
