Just recently watched this from netflix.

It deals with American foreign as being dominated by its military industrial complex since the close of WWII.

Very good look at it, and how Eisenhower, in his farewell speech, warned against the dangers of this, and how even Washington was always against America having a standing army.

Great look at how corporations like Halliburton, Lockheed, etc., the contracters and Congress are becoming intermixed, to the point that they are one.

Scary.

food for thought

^^^lincoln also warned against corporate interests controlling government

does it go into the privatization of defense and the armed forces in general,
also how corporations like wackenhut control the prison-industrial complex?

who made it?

i hope it doesn't come off like i'm grilling you, this sounds interesting actually, i'd give it a look

it was made by eugen jabeki or something....i forget dudes name.

it doesnt get into the prisons. It focused on basically, why we have fought since the close of WW2, or reallly since Eisenhower left office.

It focused more on Iraq than anything else, but touched alittle bit on the minor conflicts we have had around the world.

Making money while destroying a nation, make money while rebuilding it then make even more money off the occupied resources and trade concessions.

America doesn't suck. In fact, in theory, it is by far the best place you could be. The sad thing is that it has not heeded the warnings of the great leaders of the past, and fallen into the trappings of great power that stared it in the face after WW2 but especially after the fall of the USSR.

Ordinary Americans have nothing to do with this. They don't even benefit from it, on the contrary it hurts them.

But they can't fool the people forever.

yep. Thats what it was all about. They are not going to spend this money on technology because they want it to sit there. Its built so it can be used to acquire more.

I can't see it changing either. So many people are wrapped up in the notion that we need a huge army to protect ourselves.

The truth is, we don't. We only need that if we want to do what we are doing.

But good luck telling that to someone and actually convincing them. Especially now that everyone across the globe is anti American because of what the powers that be have done.

They have played it beautifully.

So, these morons like Drunken Monk are really only playing into the hands of these people when they go on their rants.

Exactly. With the war in Irak and our president Chirac standing against it, it became "cool" to despise Americans. But its funny how when Obama got elected, everybody started loving America. People judge a country and its people on its government, when usually a government works against its people and for itself.

if you want to express your dissatisfaction with america and americans, make a thread about it - but do it respectfully - calling people retards and telling them to kiss your ass ain't gonna bring no type of peace or order - you do want peace and order correct ?

did you see the documentary ?

that's what we are discussing

At least when I insult you, I try to add some kind of arguement...

Eitehr way, I'm gonna have to check this shit out. This plus the whole private banks thing is getting a little insane. It's amazing how some of our most respected leaders are being ignored...that doesn't make sense to me.

I mean, in school...they said in history class from almost day one, "WE study history so we don't make the same mistakes." So, why are people letting them make the same mistakes again?

The average American does not know shit about history or current events, and they tend to believe what their government tells you.

But today, with so many media outlets, its hard for the govt. to cover up whatever they are trying to do.

The Bush regime, by the military industrial complex standards, has succeeded and failed. Succeeded because they have made a ton of money off of this war, and failed because they aroused major suspicion within the public.

The problem of course is that many Americans will say they dont want to be in Iraq or anywhere abroad, but at the same time, they feel like we need to spend these insane amounts of money on the military to keep us safe.

My retort to that is....9/11.

We'll see what happens, but this shit is infiltrated into Congress. It is going to take major reform to crack down on this.

Obama, I don't think, is going to be much of a reformer when it comes to this.

McCain, who was interviewed in this documentary and brought to light the dangers of it, who knows if he would have done anything about it.

But I will give McCain credit, he has never been afraid to step outside the party line and say whats right.

Its too bad McCain got fucked so much. He lost because of Bush's reputation, and should have gotten the original nomination in 2000.

But again, u never know what the real deal is when it comes to politicians.
