View Full Version : Favourite British MC?
theDZA
07-11-2009, 05:22 AM
i'm interested to know peoples views on this, especially anyone from outside the UK, i'll start by saying that my favourite is Kano, i think that hw is a very talented lyricist and has a good voice and flow to match, i reckon he is better then dizzee, who is the most commercially successful out of British MCs.
So who would you say and why?

Dizzie, Kano, Tinchy, Bizzle, Wiley - all commercial BS to me. dont rate any of them
I reckon i'd have to go with MC Life of Phi-Life Cypher - Phi is a dope group.

honourable mentions worth a peep:
Wordsmith
Task Force
Jehst
Asaviour
Skinnyman's "freestyle's" only, his album sucks IMO
(and obviously MF Doom, Slick Rick, Roots Manuva)
a UK MC called Rising Sun was on the remix of Nas' Theifs Theme, that was pretty nice but i cant no info on dude

All the grime rappers are pretty dope IMO, Wiley, Tinchy, Dizzee. Not so much Kano. I like all the underground shit.
I dont like all that fake us backpack hip hop shit like Jehst or whatever. The worst rapper is Plan B, fucking wack.
Ive been into Roots Manuva since he came out. Roots is the most wu tangy MC in a country full of Wu Tang wannabees. Him and Slick Rick probably the 2 best ever.
I dont really count DOOM he left England when he was like 4, buts hes born in London so he counts lol.

thats fucking ridiculous and stupid. Those guys are as opposite to commerical as its possible to get, striahgt off the pirate radio, you dont get anymore underground than those guys. Some had some crossover successs, but to say they are commercial is the most retarded thing you can say.
You are ignorant of the whole real uk hip hop scene if the other guys you mentioned are what you prefer. The real hip hop is in the grime, not the US wannnabees.
The fact you like PLan B says it all really lol, the indie emo white dude with a fucking acoustic guitar doing the gayest fucking non hip hop ever.

cept for London Town, Kano's the most underground outta the ones you said...tinchy released that shitty pop song - no. 1, and dizzee released that shitty pop song dance wiv me - i lost alot of respect for him after that song, but you never know he got an album dropping soon (or so i heard) so hopefully it will be more similar to Boy In Da Croner which is a fucking brilliant album
and yeah, we'll say DOOM counts just so our list is of British MCs is a little bit better lol

terra firma in my eyes is the illest group of uk mcs no dought. if any of you have seen any wu tang gigs in the uk, some of terra firma have opened up for them a few times.
the main three members klashnekoff, kyza, and skriblah.
but unfortunatly kyza left back in 07 i think it was.
for me they were the illest coz individually they were all sick on thier own, and when they came together the raw chemistry was thier.
i noticed the chemistry they had, no other group had. it was like they were a super group without trying.
some other groups came close but didnt quite do it for me like poisonous poets, out da ville, foreign beggars and so on.
terra firma tracks to look out for:
war
angels besides me
kyza- lights out
kyza - fight club
klashnekoff - parrowdice
skriblah - dred ting
to be honest just listen to the foundation mix cd and youll see what i mean
