Warner Bros. have officially announced the DVD and Blu-Ray release of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, their sixth original DC Universe animated movie.
In the film, United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a Kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime,” Batman. Heroes and villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite - and recruit help - to stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.

“Based on the past success of Superman Doomsday and Batman Gotham Knight, we know the pairing of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight - pitted against both their DC Super Hero colleagues and the entire rogue’s gallery of DC villains - will offer fans the level of entertainment normally reserved for the big, summer blockbuster films,” said Amit Desai, WHV Vice President of Family, Animation & Partner Brands.
“This is the ultimate film for DC animation lovers featuring not only the cornerstone characters of comic book and Saturday morning heroes, but also returns the seminal voices of those characters - Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy and Clancy Brown - in a story that explores the Superman/Batman dynamic and allows Lex Luthor to shine in ultimate villainy,” said Gregory Noveck, Senior VP Creative Affairs, DC Comics.

ya they are trying to emulate Ed McGuiness' style, the artist that true the storyline they are adapting.

Yeah i've heard about this, it's already on my "to get list".

I think if people haven't done so already, they should check out the animated Wonder Woman film which was dope. The Green Lantern animated film "first flight" will be out in a couple of weeks too.

Im really looking forward to seeing this film but since I live in the uk im having to import them because for some reason they seem to be taking their time releasing these flicks over here, im just glad the blu rays are region free.

^^^region free dvd players are cheap, plus you can change region settings on any dvd player...but i see your point

i slept on the wonder woman dvd...but i will pick it up at some point

when is GL coming out?

07-14-2009, 08:40 PM
I use my ps3 to play blu rays and since I have a hi-def tv I would rather get that format anyway. As for green lantern it should be out on the 28th of this month.

Looks great. I've seen Doomsday, Wonder Woman, but not Gotham Knight. Is that movie good?

^^^not really imo, it's more of an anthology, it's pretty inconsistent in quality...i would download it. the different art styles used in each segment are more interesting than the stories themselves.

doomsday was the business though

you should check out the new frontier also if you haven't

gotham knight was pretty dope imo, i like how they presented batman so differently and yet the same in all the segments...can't wait to see this one though, looks interesting

^^^the action scenes are godly, seriously some of the best i've seen outside of anime

the plot is somewhat thin and underdeveloped though and i think it's really unfriendly to casual viewers (none of the villains are named at all--you're just supposed to know who gorilla grodd is and what he does, black manta, bane, etc---i guess they do name grodd but no background detail) also the business with captain atom and major force is not explained at all. also the bit with the japanese toyman is really lame imo.

however the animation is really well done, and the voice acting is generally high quality. I'd give it 3.5/5

^ i love that tho about the assumptive knowledge about the characters

^^it's cool for us being that we're comic fans...i would just think alot of casual fans would find it annoying and off putting...a little kid won't give a fuck though, they'll just see cool looking colorful characters and vibe on it lol...the stuff with major force and captain atom was somewhat integral to the plot so they could've explained it more imo

i love that killer frost had the same voice as she did on JLU even though she only had like 2 lines lol

but thats a good thing. im tired of the generalizeed-for-the-masses movies they out out. occasionally WE should get one... despite it being these 2.

Isn't Major Force Captain Atom's arch enemy?

09-30-2009, 12:59 PM
I saw it last night. Very good. I just wish it was longer though.

Isn't Major Force Captain Atom's arch enemy?
if i reember correctly, originally they were enemies... i think they was like opposite kinda shit... like sup & bizarro... bizzarro... bizzaro... however you spell it... they was both made by some gov agency or something but since Cap. Atom so smooth they became pals.

i may be off, i didn't pay too much mind to them.
Pan might be able to correct me.
