According to Bloody-Disgusting, Channing Tatum (GI Joe, Public Enemies) has officially been cast to star in "The Darkness" film, based on the Garth Ennis, David Wohl and Mark Silvestri comic.
Plot: On the eve of his 21st birthday, Jackie was targeted for assassination by the don of the New York mafia, "Uncle" Paulie. He finds his body possessed by the darkness, a malevolent spirit that has inhabited his family for several generations, with the benefit of giving Jackie supernatural powers that feeds off the dark.
The new movie will be directed by the Pang brothers, the duo behind "The Messengers" and "Bangkok Dangerous."

This came out of nowhere, it's a bit of an odd choice for the role too.
