I liked the fact it was reality based and how claustrophobic it was, it didn't have that cheap scare feel to it like most horror movies, open water 2 sucked balls though

the thing
the decent

Dr. Simon Hurt
09-14-2009, 08:40 AM
^^^both are quality...the thing should've been on my list...the interesting thing about "horrror" as a genre is that it econmpasses crime, suspense/thriller, science fiction, and then pure horror on it's own...it's such a broad category...i was thinking that the 70s version of nosferatu should be there as well

dusk...is vampyros lesbos the vampire lovers under a different name?

good picks
manhunter is an underrated gem...very atmospheric, great cinematography...completely different characterization of lecter from brian cox...better, maybe?

Brian cox played Lector like a real human that was capable to do horrible things.

but hopkins played up the character like a Comic book villan.

I did enjoy Hopkins in Silence of the lambs.

But MANHUNTER the movie OWNS RED DRAGON!

Dr. Simon Hurt
09-16-2009, 08:58 AM
well ya manhunter owns red dragon, manhunter was directed by michael mann, red dragon was directed by brett ratner lol...red dragon plays like an extended episode of law and order as opposed to a film imo

i agree, that brian cox had a more human and multidimensional characterization, as much as i like hopkins as lecter, his performance was more one-note; he played it as an urbane and sophisticated sociopath, cox had more layers to it and more of a range of emotions.

Children of the Corn was awesome when I was a kid. It's kinda boring to watch now

beautifulrock

Speaking of Children of the Corn, did anyone see "The Children"? It came out in 1980 and is about a toxic waste spill that turns all the kids into murderous zombies with black fingernails, I thought that was pretty creepy.
