one of the few albums outside of anything Wu that i know every word to.
easily his best, an overall classic even tho it's hardly ever mentioned and in the only tape i think embodied that RR sound.

09-15-2009, 07:24 PM
oh yeah x's hardest verse gotta be the closing verse on "niggas done started something"!!!!

everyone merks it including mase in murda mase mode, and when you hear the growl and he hits them opening lines you already knew who got the biggest rock off!!!!!

Classic album

X was one of the first rappers i heard, basically got me into rap and evolved from there. i think he has done that to a lot of people, Ruff Ryders Anthem was just one of those tracks. ATF is some raw shit

IMO this album has one of the best intros of all time. just listen to the fucking beat!
check out how he performs the intro in front of like 100,000 people, while rockin red timberland boots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anoP7hMbytY

Damien is one of the most incredible tracks of the 90s. its his best storytelling track.

DMX his first record is def a Hip-Hop classic, he helped bringing that Hardcore Rap and that whole Hardcore appeal to a mainstream crowd and you gotta respect him for that....
He's one of those rappers that get respect from both Hardcore crowds and mainstream people....

great album
i always hope DMX could get back the spirit and hunger he did back.
he ruined it with all this Bitch talk and Homophobia songs.
His horror stories are the best.

I remember when this album came out, its like he just came outta nowhere.

A listened to some hip-hop during 92-97 when I when I first started getting into music with some rock and other stuff. In 98 is when I got my first real job so I could afford to buy 2 CDs a week so this album was playing daily. That was the year that hip-hop started having more than 1 CD bin in the record store and wasnt hidden at the back.

X has actually been around since early 90's, born loser came out 92 i think, and he was in the source in 91. slow breaker. but yeah no one outside new york knew. kinda strange he didnt come out till 98.

LOL@Angry saying his 2nd and 3rd albums are good hahahahahahahaha. None of DMX's albums are good LOL. His first album has some hard joints but i wouldn't say it's a classic. Ruff Ryders Anthem, Fuckin With D, Get At Me Dog, Stop Being Greedy, ATF and the song that comes after How's It Going Down is hard. What's the name of the song that comes after How's It Going Down? LOL@DMX makes me laugh when he barks like a dog hahahahahahahahahaha. A friend of mine has some old unreleased songs by DMX before he signed with Def Jam. I wanna get those songs from him. I remember seeing a old picture of him in The Source magazine before he got a record deal. So i know that he was doing music before he came out in 1998.

The only DMX album I could have no regrets in purchasing. All the others are missing that special something that IDAHIH has.

Wack as fuck.

Got ya bitches.

Damien, Intro, Ruff Ryders(I was like 5 when this single dropped? Had me possessed with criminal thoughts), ATF. Excellent album. Saying it's a classic is debatable.

EDIT:4got bout Stop being greedy

Some of you fools be acting like this AINT one of the best fucking debut albums from any rapper ever. This album is fucking hard. I really don't like Swizz Beatz which is why I don't think FOMF is even remotely close to this album. Dame Grease hit the ball out of the park with the production here.

Undeniable classic, think it sold even more than five million, if you could count bootleg sales. The local bootlegger still gets requests for this all the time. This is one of the few albums you can find on his bootleg table from the nineties. Most bootleggers only sell stuff that was released in the last couple of years, so you know it is in demand if a bootlegger keeps it in stock.
