View Full Version : M.O.P. sells 2,100 copies first week.. damn

damn this shit just got me heated but apparantly M.O.P.'s latest release sold in just over 2,000 fucking copies and at the same time artists "more in touch with their female side" like Jay-Z and Kid Cudi sold alot of records which shows how fucking backwards this hip-hop game is today. on a side note KRS-One and Buckshot (who also delivered a pretty solid LP) sold 8,000 copies - can't say too much on that cuz i haven't copped that one myself though. the two things this depressing shit gonna lead to is that great artists like M.O.P. either will stop making albums and hang up the mic or at least stop putting in the effort it takes to make GOOD albums. salute to anyone still supporting good music though, let's keep it alive and well!

M.O.P. isn't relevant. I've got their greatest hits album and that's all I need.

Its their own fault.

If they wouldent have been so lazy and turned some of their shit in when they were signed to G-Unit, than maybe they could have had better sales

mop is ill but I cant stand a lot of the beats they use. Just ruins the tracks for me. Their first album has the best beats and is my fav album from them.

hell yea people like MOP they never released an album under 4 stars. Easily one of the most consistent groups out there. People need to go out and buy this, i dont want them to hang it up cuz of the terrible sales numbers

I don't think it matters how much MOP sells, because they have been in the game for a long time (since 92/93) and are real and authentic, hundreds of acts have been and gone and MOP still remain, Foundation is a good album, Blueprint 3 isn't.

I think Blueprint 3 is great

Foundation is the same album MOP has done 4-5 times before, except not as good as the others

I copped the new MOP and Im feelin it. 2k is'nt bad in this day and age. There getting good money off this album... Fame said they get 6.50 a album.... so 2k the first week is nice with 0%promotion! I don't see one poster/sticker on the streets for this album... hardly any internet promotion. Another great album I bought KRSONE+BUCKSHOT did 9k first week.... they probly expected a lil more cause They have street promotion and internet promotion. But Sept with Raekwon "OB4CL2" ,JAYZ"BP3" dropping it's hard for HipHop heads to buy 2 albums in one month... let alone 4! I bought MOP "Foundation" Raekwon "OB4CL2" and KRSONE+BUCKSHOT "Survival Skills". Im impressed with all 3 of these albums. Im glad I ain't buy Blueprint3 cause I downloaded it and it's the worst JAY-Z album ever! "American Gangster" was a great album.... jay dropped the ball big time with BP3!

I've never cared about album sales. There are a lot of rap albums that are good and didn't sell a lot of copies. M.O.P. is gonna continue to make music. I don't think they're gonna let terrible album sales make them stop rapping. Claaa7, why you say Jay-Z is feminine now? LOL. A black female co-worker of mine asked me if i heard Jay-Z's new album and i said no because i don't like him anymore. She said she thinks his album is good. I said so what LOL. Buckshot and KRS One's album sold 800,000 the first week? That's pretty good since the album is independent.

i doubt MOP just sat on their asses while on G-Unit and didn't do shit, they didn't get to release a single album when they were on Roc-A-Fella but completed and turned in THREE full LP's.

MOP never sold a lot of units to begin with. They have Gangstarr unit numbers at best. For live performances, yes.

That basically what 50 said.

He gave them deadlines to turn shit in and they never came thru, so he let them go

^^ true!
M.O.P. definitely got lyrics, something that may often get over looked by all the chanting and hype energy, but they're dead serious with their pen game!
Not be underestimated!

i wanted the roc to drop m.o.p., and i wanted to hear their g-unit release too.. but i also realize business is business!!!!

50 put these niggas in a posistion to succeed, i remember he had these niggas at a fat camp to make em more presentable to the general public!!!! the market draw just isnt there for the mash out posse and the numbers here prove it!!!

even still it was a good listen and i went out and supported it!!! next time fizzy needs to produce less and let preem do the legwork, i know preems always down to lace the posse!!!!

claaa7
09-27-2009, 11:05 AM
Fizzy only did 3 beats on "Foundation" actually, but yeah i was hoping for a little more Preemo too - especially since he produced at least 1/3 of all their previous retail albums except the first one. word is that he created two extra bangers for the album but it didn't make the deadline. hopefully he'll be all over the next one.
