Edit: Ohshit! There's a book forum. Please move.
Edit2: Or not, as PALE pointed out, it's good to promote the book forum, which I'll start taking part in.

Just wanted to see what books the fam is readin'.

Apart from my political practice on the streets (and more militant actions that we've done in the last 2 years), to expand on my practical and theoretical understanding I take part in 3 hours of political education a day as well as often attending reading circles. Of all the books I've read, I'd say the following have influenced me the most:

- Communist Manifesto (Marx)
- State and Revolution (VI Lenin)
- Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism (VI Lenin)
- Black Nationalism and Self Determination (Leon Trotsky)
- The Huey P Newton Reader (Huey, David Hilliard)
- HUEY: Spirit of the Panther (David Hilliard)
- The Wretched of the Earth (Frantz Fanon)
- To The Toiling, Oppressed and Exhausted Peoples of Europe (Leon Trotsky)
- By Any Means Necessary (Malcolm X)
- On Practice (Mao)
- On Contradiction (Mao)

Right now I'm in the middle of a 500-page book, the selected Prison Notebooks of Antonio Gramsci.

Hunter S Thompson - Generation Of Swine.

Animal Farm
1984

These are sick books. I have that version of Animal Farm too. You know the author, Orwell, was a socialist as well? Animal Farm was his artistic critique of Stalinism.

Also, in his late 20s I believe, he went to Spain to fight the class war amongst the anarchist and communist revolutionaries in Caledonia. He wrote about the experience in Homage to Catalonia. I'm a few chapters into that one, good shit.

Good choices, god.

Keep em comin'.

some good books I've read:-

Ira Levin - This Perfect Day
Chickenhawk - a book about a helicopter pilot in Nam
Mao - The unknown story (socialist revolt - you won't like this - Mao comes across as a hollow power obsessed paranoid evil shit!)
Stephen King - IT (brilliant writing on childhood)

Big ups on Animal Farm and Brave New World.

This, brothers and sisters, is also an amazing book. I forgot to include it in my list.

It provides a solid analysis of the psychopathology of oppressed and colonized peoples and their natural response to act in self-defense. This book influenced many, including Malcolm X and Che Guevara. Check it.

A marxist account of the struggle for freedom in Jamaica.

Got to big up the wicked books in the Caribbean tradition of radical political economy:

Persistent Poverty
Capitalism and Slavery

I have that exact same book under my bed right now. Amazing. My fav one is the one where it's talking about the sage not being sick because he is sick of sickness. I'm gonna have to bust that out again. How's the DMT book? I was thinking of checking that one out.

I'm currently reading The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe. Kick ass book. You'd prolly dig it.
