celph titled - i consider him more of a comedian than anything
eminem - more so his early shit

its too many to name but i think punchlines are corny if the emcee cant bring anything else to the table. i love picking on rap niggas, and fabolous is just punchlines and botched ll r and b trash!!! need that balance!!!

buddens is also one of the absolute worst, this nigga had mixtapes where he was acting like jay leno doing monologues with the days headlines!!!!

^Yeah.
Holocaust might be the greatest lyricist or punchline rapper in the game right now, I wouldn't know, since his voice annoys the hell outta me and I couldn't get past the 1st track on the blue sky album.

Holocaust is not a rapper, he's in his own category, an Emcee's Emcee.

And as for balance, not everyone likes to fall into formation
Hence why he's a virtuoso and not a professional at his craft.
I mean some wanna spread their wings and people hate on it ?
He was outrapping everyone in sight when he was 17...yeah.
And by playing by "raps rules" as well.
Clearly showing he's above it to no purpose thinking nothing of it
Back then there was balance, but it became childsplay to him
And thus he became the most diverse lyracist known.

"Knock Your 20-20 Vision To 0-0"

He ran through this chamber while others are still in it, bound by their limited range
And you wanna talk about balance ? surely...

"Why Can't They Be More Diverse Instead Of Doing This Same Shit All the Time"

...would be a just as valid question ?

If Salvador Dali painted like Raphael he'd be unknown.
Or at least not achieved the stature he has.

The thing you fail to see is that Warcloud don't got balance. You keeps defending him about all his different "styles", but in the end, they're all just advanced language use mixed with NO type of focus on delivery. By balance we mean that they need to have a decent voice, flow, lyrics etc.etc., not just being able to change up their subject.

I never said he had balance, quite the opposite in fact.
He used to, when he was playing by the rules, like a professional.
Which is why I think he's hard to chart in comparison to others now, he's steps ahead.
He's just on some next level, one that most can't reach or be on
Be it for skill or be it for simply dismissing it as something thats dope.

To me, his voice (voices) is beyond ill, almost reflecting what he's conveying
His flow is just different now, he's not playing by raps rules anymore...a virtuoso.
As for his lyrics, well, I don't need to tell you do I Gnom.

But this is me, I have said time & time again that I understand he's an aquired taste.
I take on board that he speaks upon myth & legend a great deal
But to me the IS a focus in the way it's delivered, it's just a different focus
An upgraded all be it blurred one I'll grant you, he's like an ancient poet now.
And for the most part, it is the delivery/voice that people have a problem with.
(always reminds me of Canibus)
But mirrored with the "Bluntz, Martinez, Girlz & Gunz"
That the rest that you're talking about tend to lean on...
I don't know, just seems a bit biased to me ?

There's nothing wrong with being different, god forbid it actually be imbraced.

If you're giving up on convention, you'd better be damn witty or next level in some other category or coming up with a different restriction of your own. Otherwise it just bullshit,
being 'bored' or being 'different' amounts to incompetence or laziness-- your diversion from convention needs to have a purpose in expression.

If I had to choose one trait it would be flow over wittiness. Obviously good flow with some wit is better. Too much of that shit and it just becomes cute, and if its a hard track you don't want to be too cute.

My bad, misunderstood you.

His flow is just different now, he's not playing by raps rules anymore...a virtuoso.

He doesn't play by any rules. He got no structure. He don't rap. He don't sing. He sounds like some spoken word artist with a random beat put on, and nothing fits. How is that being a virtuoso? Even on those few tracks where he actually keeps the beat, his flow isn't anything special.

Like Clan Destine said, "your diversion from convention needs to have a purpose in expression". To rap off-beat with no rhythm doesn't have that, it only makes the track harder to listen to because it doesn't sound right.

word, that's the godfather of that whole punchline and one-liners shit. he don't get nearly enough praise but he was on the level of Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap and he's ill as hell on the beats too.
