Grammy-nominated rapper Nasir "Nas" Jones has had his tax problems land online with reports accusing him of owing the government over $2.5 million.

The rapper's financial crunch made headlines late Sunday (October 18) evening.

Kelis isn't the only person trying to get money from Nas -- turns out Uncle Sam is too! TMZ has obtained a federal tax lien filed last month against Nas for a whopping $2,584,206.31. Looks like Nas didn't pay his taxes in 2006 and 2007. Nas is currently involved in a bitter divorce battle with Kelis. Looks like she'll have to wait in line. (TMZ)
A judge ruled against Nas over the summer and said he would have to pay over $40,000 to Kelis in spousal and child support expenses.

A day after welcoming a baby boy, the "Milkshake" singer, 29, was awarded nearly $44,000 in monthly support from her ex Nas at a hearing. He initially asked a court to deny Kelis any spousal support and then proposed paying Kelis a one-time payment of $20,000 until the judge could settle on an appropriate spousal and child support amount at a later hearing. But on Thursday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Louis Meisinger rejected the offer, stating that new mom Kelis needed more money per month to accommodate her new lifestyle. (Us Magazine)

Prior to being spotted publicly with Kelis, Nas clarified rumors of having an affair during their marriage.

"It's funny that someone would even care about some Nasir Jones sh*t," Nas said in an interview. "I'm still that kid from the block at the end of the day... So when I watch this sh*t, it's surreal. We get a good laugh off it and say, 'Hey, they're talking about me again and it's some funny sh*t'...I heard that I was a cheater...It almost sounds like I was a bad husband. Not to say I was the greatest - I'm not perfect in anything I do -- but I think I deserve a f*cking trophy. If I do say so myself, without sounding too cocky, I gotta say I was a hell of a husband and a hell of a dad...It's unfortunate when business is out there about your personal sh*t, especially when you're really not the guy to be having his sh*t out there...The sad thing is, you've got to get used to it. My skin is so thick that I probably need to write a book for people who are not ready for anything crazy." (Vancouver Straight)
Aside from financial issues, Nas has been speaking out against teenage violence.

"I think it's the obvious thing for the media to point out one of the most violent, lyrical records I made," Nas explained in an interview referring to "Shoot 'Em Up." "I made a lot of records about children, not a lot, but I made songs about children, about struggle and those are never the songs that are talked about. There's only attention on the songs where there's violence in it, but the reality is, I'm only speaking about reality...Music comes from life, I write about what I see, I write about what I lived, I write about what I see others live and I use a little bit of imagination to talk to them...I'm bugging out that kids aren't realizing it's a new day, it's a new time. The good die young and I'm always gonna talk about that in my music...I'm not gonna change my music to make it more positive because that's not real..." (CNN)

Nas getting hit for 2.5 means he had to do like double that, which means he ain't broke. Spousal/child support payments are based on monthly incomes, so Nas is still doing alright. But he should get an accountant, cause that shit should have been taken car of, and whoever he had before should get the boot.

These rappers that don't file their income taxes have nobody to blame but themselves. I can't believe Nas owes that much money to the IRS. I thought he was smarter than that. I guess he isn't that smart since he married Kelis hahahahahahahahahahaha. I'm not surprised that Method Man owes money to the IRS. He so busy smoking weed, drinking alcohol, hanging out at the club and chasing bitches that he don't have time to pay attention to his finances LOL. Whatever white man accountant he hired is probably laughing at his ass because he's taking his money and he owes money LOL.

damn that shit go^^

but realistically 2 mil ain't nothin for an artist like nas ... he a industry staple ... he got record company ties who could straight up front him the money ... but then again nas is kinda dumb when it comes to anything outside of rap lol
