I love the second version of it, but this one is just too raw!

Always preferred the remix to the original (both tracks are good)...

Loved the slow, mellow vibe of the second version... You got Jay talking about the road to the riches, trying to reach his dreams through illegal activities. Jay's old songs looking back are really inspirational because he actually achieved everything he wanted. It's cool hearing him back in the day dreaming the dream so to speak... I also believe this is Jay's first song where he slowed the flow up...

Added to that the eerie but insightful hook which questions everything Jay is talking about...

Goddamn, I hate music nowadays... The best songs nowadays dont touch even the halfway decent ones of a decade ago...

classic track, "Reasonable Doubt" and "In My Lifetime" + the few 12" singles (like this) he dropped prior to RD is great fucking hip-hop all-round.

^^ the song ain't on the album though (if you're talking about IML V.1), i agree though.. that album is so underrated it ain't even funny, "You Must Love Me", "Where I'm From" and "A Million & One/Rhyme No More" fucks with most on RD (except "D'Evils" of course).

You're talking about In My Lifetime song? I thought you were talking about In My Lifetime album. In My Lifetime remix is better than the original. What album is the original on? In My Lifetime album is his last good album to me. I just bought it today because i lost my copy awhile ago.

For me BP3 is a solid album, I like it a lot more than American Gangster. My least favorite Jay-Z album would be BP2, the Dynasty used to one of them but it started to grow on me the past 2 years. I own all of them regardless.
