http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/2188MGGG6JL._SL500_AA240_.jpg

i was one happy son of a bitch when this shit finally dropped!!!!!! one of the cleanest mixes ever featured on a rap album, prestine sound quality, alpha engineering, and some of the greatest production ever released by one of the GOATS!!!!! you can easily zone out to the instrumentation and get lost in the wall of sound!!!!!!!!

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3OoONnvUWpQ/Sr1aJ7kdOUI/AAAAAAAAAOA/2ZDLvXzwods/s320/petestrumentals.jpg

http://static.boomkat.com/images/227012/333.jpg

time stilling!!!!! jay dee actually comunicates through his music on this shit!!!!!! incredible flavor, was able to expand on his past stylings and create all new shit, next level drum programming, and it covers the map sonically tip to tip... given the backstory it really was an incredible piece of music to go out on!!!!!!!!!!

i was one happy son of a bitch when this shit finally dropped!!!!!!

I can imagine, I probably felt the same. Top of the line instrumental hip hop albums purchases, I would spend money on good new or classic inst albums quicker than most full length albums nowadays.

I haven't heard all of Madlib's Konductor series yet, he's a prolific producer who puts out alot of material so it's hard to keep up sometimes

I'm still amazed when listening to 2001 and Pete's inst LPs today, they run vivid like a movie when I listen, with tracks that tell a story even without vocals

Here's the top of the crop for my favorite inst releases of full length classics that have come out at a limited amount on vinyl, don't know if you have these one's too

Grand Puba - Reel To Reel
Souls of Mischief - 93 Til Infinity
most of Alchemist's inst LPs
numerous Wu releases - Ironman, Return to 36, Liquid Swords, Uncontrolled Subst., OB4CL
Pete Rock - Mecca, Main Ingredient & Center of Attention
Diamond D- Stunts Blunts
Mobb Deep - Hell On Earth, Murda Musik

That Donuts LP is a defining part of Jay Dee's catalog! He has a number of other inst LPs that came out, even before Ruff Draft and the first one he put out on Bling 47. Jay started the beat-tape trend that many current producers are runnin with now

Ay angry!, have you heard DJ Spinna's inst albums of the late 90's? He's got production with dope jazz sampling, hard drums and ill baselines in the tradition of Pete Rock, a similar feel to the Petestrumentals, but with a style all it's own

D1OtOoLv9e0

I love his Compositions series and the Beat Generation album he did was good too

I remember walking into Fat Beats around '98 and amazed to see inst versions of The Beatnuts' first 3 albums on vinyl, I didn't have enough dough to buy all of them at the time unfortunately. I applaud them for taking time out to release Intoxicated Demons EP thru Musical Massacre

Has essential pre-Entroducing singles and EPs like "In/Flux" the smooth-as-fuck instrumental that earned first use of the term "trip-hop" and his whole "What Does Your Soul Like" series that are fucking epic. Plus it's got some of the stuff he released directly after Entroducing.

Yeah Oxtrumentals is great to just have one repeat and get about your bizzle.

Misled Children and Odean Pope are fuckering awesome too. It's not really hip hop, but damn this is nice and probably sounds good to with rap accapellas over it.

dope fucking thread, instrumental albums are often more enjoyable to listen too if it's done by the right producer. most of the good shit has been mentioned already I see, from Pete Rock to Block Head to DJ Shadow to Madlib and Spinna.

I would recommend the instrumental version of "Hatred, Passions & Infidielity" by the one and only Diamond D.

this is the album i lend to homies that cant stomach necro on the mic, and they all come back saying they feel stupid for sleeping on sons board game!!!!!! absolute master of the ASR-10... heavy drums, dusted sampling, hes always reminded me of large professor on acid!!!!!!!

go cop the real album too, because bill is a one man wrecking crew and one of the most slept on emcees period!!!!! but the instrumentals are worth owning as well!!!!! crazy blend of live instrumentation and loops, dusted drums, another production gem on necros belt!!!!!!!

I need to go back and listen to RJD2, when I first checked out one of his instrumental albums it sounded like a mid 90's style which has been done by many other independent artists. His work didn't really jump out at me like other artists who pushed the traditional sound in early 2000, like Hi-Tek or Jay Dee.

i think hes in it for the long haul, this kids potential is through the roof!!!!!! dope producer and a vicious emcee... deadly combination!!!!!!

I'm happy to see someone else appreciates Oh No angry! I haven't got that new album he put out yet but have been watching it for a while. I know he's flippin Ethiopian samples on that one

Here's a couple new instrumental releases that stand out to me in '09, by talented up and comers S1 (Symbolic One of Strange Fruit Project) (www.myspace.com/symbolycone) and his 11 year old son Vohn Beatz (www.myspace.com/vohnbeatz). If you haven't heard these already, I think you'll like them angry

^ nice little album. its got 3 beats on it, all 10 minutes long. One by Cut Chemist which is all funk and one by Madlib, whos flips old jazz standards. The third is the og jazz standard lol.
