Changing Pitch Up

I do it for all of my samples, it makes it sound less and less like the oringinal, which is exactly what I'm going for. I fuck around and use a lot of different sampled sounds from the same track and "pitch 'em" up and down, all in different ways. Not too many people do it other than for pitching up vocals. Comments? You guys fuck around with that?
