I have never used that unit or a keyboard for that matter but I bet it's just a matter of setting the number of bars for the loop to be recorded. 4 secs sounds like it's set to 2 bar loop which is usually a default. typically when you record on something there is a screen before you press start, on there you would set the measures (number of bars), any kind of quantizing (don't do it!), metronome level, etc...again not sure but that sounds like you need to set the number of bars for the loop to be recorded to a higher number

try to find the PDF of the manual if you dont have a copy of it...the most important sections for getting started are about how to load sounds into the unit and put them on keys etc, and the sections on making/recording a pattern, all the info about setting bar measures would be there
