A thread to discuss our favourite cult movies ....

I finally saw Maniac this week and before I saw it , I expected to see one of the most morbid and macabre movies based on what I've read on the backcover....

It was aight , not as morbid as I expected , those murder scenes could have done better but I really liked Joe Spinelli's acting as Frank Zito , he really played a tremendous role as a schizofrenic psychopathic person !

Movies I still have to see : Nekroromantik (a German movie about a necrophiliac couple) and Cannibal Holocaust ( this stuff just has to be utterly insane !)

So which cult movies are you folks on here into?

Define "Cult Movie" ?

These are movies who weren't made to be blockbusters and are usually aimed at a certain fanbase or subculture....

Most of the time they are not widely recognized but they sure have a dedicated fanbase.... There are exceptions such as A Clockwork Orange....

I haven't seen every movie in the cult genre, but the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is my favorite so far, and I ain't talkin about that damn remake by Michael Bay! I have watched a couple documentaries of the movie too, also found some recent audio interviews from the cast members. When you find out the real life inspiration for TCM it's even deeper to watch as a movie:

I don't need a whole lot of blood, slashing and guts for a cult horror film to be good. TCM shows you can have only a few minutes of blood in the whole film and still be one of the most shocking and scary films ever made. To leave more to the imagination when you're watching is part of the fear and suspense.

I was actually afraid to watch TCM for many years because from the title I figured it was all about blood and slashing every second. Then I broke down and finally watched it only to find out the movie is much more of a psychological trip from calm to chaos in addition to being a great slasher film.

I've got some animated gifs for my signature coming soon of the movie

Napolean Dynamite wasn't made to be a huge hit, but people loved it so much it became a classic. And ya, same with Donnie Darko.

Saw it today, "Just One of the Guys" features a glorious PG-13 rating meaning teenagers could wank in the afternoon to all 3 amazing seconds of Joyce Hyser's marvelous mammaries. After this movie, she disappeared, probably to get away from the hoards of horny teenagers banging on her security gate.
