Ola sisters and brothers.

I know that socialism is becoming the hot-topic, and some of you have not had the accessibility to aural/visual aids to help conceptualize the marxist ideology.

My goal is to provide you easy access to visual aids which would really aid in understanding Marxist theory and its relevance in the world today. From ghetto youth, to the indigenous latin-american peoples, to the corner of south-east asia, Marxism continues to have an influence.

There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!

I just don't think that anyone will be able to pull of a communist state, so why bother. It's just gonna end up an authoritarian machine, and I don't like hero worship (at the very least not to fallible living men.)

Religion was the people's opiate, so Mao became China's God. In China you would say "I swear to Mao I'm not lying." That's the level he put himself on. Just look at North Korea. I'm not saying that Communism automatically goes that way, but every example of communism has gone that way (except for a few later Russian reform leaders) every Communist Leader has created a full blown Imperial Cult of Personality. Not cool by me. A real leader must be humble and put himself last. That's what leadership is.

food for thought

How is authoritarianism and hero worship/martyrdom inherent in Marx' communist ideology?

You can not equate the ideology of Marx with the people who have put it into application. Even Lenin has conflicting elements in his application to what Marx wrote [who did not believe in vanguardism, nor a revolutionary potential in the underdeveloped/peasant nations].

Marx himself was very anti-authoritarian. For example, a documented moment is when his daughter asked him to write his greatest vice, to which he wrote "servility" - being the type of thing needed to live in the USSR and many of the so-called communist countries that have existed to this day.

His ideology is, put simply, that it is right to rebel, whether in a feudal state (as the bourgeois did), in the capitalist state (as the proletarian does), or in the socialist state. So long as a state exists, there exists an exploitation of society.

The goal is to be stateless (a product of classlessness), and I believe the only way to establish this 'communism' is to first accomplish international socialism where classes will begin their path into abolition and eventual negation (with the negation of the necessity of the state).

Capitalism itself breeds a disgusting sentiment and culture among its inhabitants. A feeling of bitterness, competition, distrust and mutual alienation (due to the idea that to be happy, the economic supercession of peers and community members is necessary). Capitalism can not exist without poverty, and war is the logical byproduct of capitalism. Furthermore, prostitution and humiliation and the application of the most menial and humiliating work perverting the worse traits of humankind exist here, imposing itself to the propertyless by the (wealthy) propertyowner.

The capitalist himself doesn't do much in today's society. Today, workers create the world. Production is socialized, while the means of production are monopolized by the hands of the few. Like the old manufacturing guilds of feudal society, which were assumed to be an absolute order, were eventually pushed aside by the rising bourgeoisie, so too will the bourgeoisie be pushed by the rise of proletarians when they understand their role in society.

To receive the fruits of their labour (which is today criminally and disproportionaly expropriated to the pocket of the capitalist), workers will have to overthrow those which monopolize the means of production and establish a state for and by the proletarian - a radical worker democracy.

It's inherent to his transitional phases at the very least. Revolutionaries need leaders. Leaders tend to suck. Thus Authoritarian is inherent.

Also I consider the entire society being controlled by the government even if it's fully democratic, its still authoritarian in the sense that the majority have authority over the minority. I mean that works out if the government has limits, but communist societies have tended to be very controlling in order to make it work.
