Falling concrete from O'Donnell Parking Structure kills one person

A falling piece of concrete struck several individuals at the O'Donnell Park Parking structure. Two people who suffered injuries were taken to Froedtert Hospital, and a third person died at the scene. Investigators have closed the parking structure, freeway exits, and Lincoln Memorial Parkway.

Police received the 911 call around 4:00 p.m., and immediately sent officers and rescue crews over to the parking structure. Three people were injured in this accident, one of them died from their injuries. The other two are being treated at Froedtert Hospital.

The O'Donnell Park parking structure is closed off to the public until Milwaukee County engineers can determine the structure is safe. Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has no idea how long cars will be trapped inside the building.

After cars are released from the structure Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker says the structure will remain closed. He told FOX6 he doesn't care how long it is closed, no one will have access to it until engineers can determine if the structure is "100% safe."

County Executive Scott Walker says this is not a maintenance issue, and the structure's maintenance has not been delayed.

Lincoln Memorial Parkway has been shut down from Michigan St. to McKinley Ave. Anyone looking to attend Summerfest should take side streets and not rely on freeway exits to get you close to Summerfest.
