Anyone know how many times Method Man's been sampled? All I can think of off top is John Blaze.

I've wondered if it was possible to reassemble classic tracks by rakim or KRS by using lines that other rappers had bitten from them.

It's got to be Slick Rick, if you're aware of how much La Di Da Di has been sampled alone. it's gone beyond Hip Hop artists sampling that song already and into the R&B world. Some of his songs have been redone by artists too.

prodigy was the most sampled up until everyone and they mama started using punchlines from other rappers in their hooks which got big around 2007 or some shit...

djskillz
09-06-2010, 11:17 AM
^nah it started after Jay-Z dropped the black album. everyone and their mama wanted to sample a line from Jay for the hook. Swizz Beatz is responsible for that shit. Damn near every beat he made for the next two years was guaranteed to have a Jay-Z hook.

KRS has done the most guest spots and has been used the most as hooks for the most songs by other artists, he even says as much on The Mixtape in his battle with Nelly

"of course it is/ridiculous/one of my sixteen bar rhymes is aidin ya choruses"

I dont know how many times Ive heard KRS' voice on tracks, from Commons Ressurection album to Strong Arm Steadys In Search of Stoney Jackson, the dudes been sampled a fucken zillion times by probably every producer in the known universe. Theyve sampled his "woop woop" from Black Cop too many times to count and everyone quotes the dudes lines and sound effects ("bo bo bo bo"" etc). KRS ftw.

^definitely. I know that. I was just saying it became a trend aroud '04 to start sampling people for hooks. Everyone knows that the most sampled of all time are still KRS, Rakim and Slick Rick though.

Nas samples himself alot

I'd say Rakim... Paid In Full was chopped up line for line.

In the mid 90's up to 2000 or so it's Prodigy, no doubt.

Bullshit, they've been sampling other rappers' voices for choruses since, like, ever.

I'd say Flavor Flav (I don't even count how many times did they sample his voice from "Yo! Bum Rush the Show" song yelling "BITCH!").

djskillz
09-07-2010, 11:45 AM
^yea but as far as the '00s go not everyone was doin that anymore, especially not on a mainstream level. once '04 came it became cool to sample people for hooks again.

R.A., dude can't afford samples so he samples himself.

Now that I think about it, Three 6 mafia does this on a shit load of songs.
I think they might be the most sampled.

djskillz
09-07-2010, 12:11 PM
^Three 6 win for most samples of themselves lol. They've been sampling/remaking their underground songs for 15+ years. I created a list at one point of all the samples I could find cause I had all their underground tapes from the 90s.
