Been in a UGK mood all day. Figured I'd make a thread with my favorite UGK songs. Not sure how many people on this site are UGK fans.

Seeing how I've been listening to double albums today I'll throw in 4 life

09-07-2010, 04:50 AM
I found the original song they did for the interludes on that album today. It's in my sig. They were always my favorite parts of that album so I was glad I found the original. I still got alot of UGK stuff I need to find though. They made a shitload of music in 19 years.

Ugk 4 life !!!!!!

Unreleased Songs:
Groupies ft Mitchell Queen

There's alot of differences between "The Southern Way" recorded late 1991-early 1992 then the vamped-up release of Jive's "Too Hard To Swallow". Jive wouldnt pay the clearence prices for some of the samples and some samples they were denied. all 7 tracks of "The Southern Way" apper on "THTS" but changed beats and lyrics Jive wouldn't allow some of the words so tracks like "Tell Me Something Good" and "Use Me Up" were dramaticly changed for Jive's liking. the 5 new tracks had also been "edited down" other tracks left off including the tracks "Pregnant Pussy", "Muthafucka Aint Mine", "Eyes On That Haters","Trill" (not to be confused with "Trill Ass Ni**a") and some other tracks that didnt seem fit. "Eyes On Tha Haters" can be found on the UGK bootleg called "Kingz 4 Life". "Too Hard To Swallow" was released November 10,1992 and has been a good seller.

Remixes: Use Me Up has 3 different mixes Chris Levitt Mix, Ghetto Jeep Remix and Hip Hop Remix and Extended Remixes

Videos: Something Good and Use Me Up

01. Bun B Intro
02. Pregnant Pussy
03. Pusi Mental
04. Muthafucka Ain't Mine
05. Muthafucka Ain't Mine (Instrumental)

A 5 track EP Big Tyme dropped with tracks that were left off on "Too Hard To Swallow"
and Jive allowed to get Big Tyme contract up on U.G.K.

Remixes: none

Videos: none

Released Version:

01. Return
02. Underground
03. It's Supposed To Bubble
04. I Left It Wet 4 You
05. Feds In Town
06. Pocket Full Of Stones pt 2
07. Front, Back & Side 2 Side
08. Protect & Serve
09. Stoned Junkee
10. Pussy Got Me Dizzy
11. Three Sixteens

Orginal Version:

01. Return
02. Underground
03. I Left It Wet For Ya
04. Pocket Full Of Stones pt 2
05. Feds In Town
06. It's Supposed To Bubble
07. Front, Back And Side To Side ft Smoke-D
08. Protect & Serve
09. Stoned Junkee
10. Pussy Got Me Dizzy ft Mr. 3-2
11. Three Sixteens ft DJ DMD
12. High Till I Die ft BoBo Luchiano & Big Mike

songs that were left off the album

93 Mac
Meanage A Trois aka Untitled Pimp C solo
High 'Till I Die ft BoBo Luchiano & Big Mike
Smooth Slangin (Bun B solo)
Weed Weed ft Mr. 3-2 & Mitchell Queen
Here They Come
Supertight ft DJ DMD

none of the songs that was taken off has ever appered on any other recordings not even bootleg except for an unmixed or mastered copy of "Menage A Trois"

The track that's known as "93 Mac" on the internet is really known as "Menage A Trois" and was supposed to be the first single for "Supertight..." but Isley Brother's wouldn't clear the sample. the real "93 Mac" has both Pimp C and Bun B over a smooth guitar beat.

the orginal intent for this cd which was released July 30,1994 was a double album called "Soul 4 Life" some songs started but never finished was songs like "Heaven" and "Shattered Dreams" which was later finished in 2006.

"Three Sixteens" was a diss track to Point Blank a local Houston rapper who had been dissing U.G.K. (for leaving and dissing Big Tyme Records) & DJ DMD (who was involved with the group in Port Arthur O.G. Point Blankk

Remixes: Supposed To Bubble has a Pimp C remix to it the cassette single RMX has Bun doin an intro while the vinyl and cd singles have pimp C talking thru the intro

Video: Supposed To Bubble

Ridin Dirty:

little known facts

the orginal cd was going to be

01. Intro
02. One Day
03. Murder
04. Pinky Ring
05. You Don't Know Me Fool
06. Diamonds Up Against That Wood
07. 3 N Da Mornin
08. Touched
09. Fuck My Car
10. Thats Why I Carry
11. Hi Life
12. Good Stuff
13. Ridin Dirty
14. Outro

but last minute took off "You Don't Know Me Fool" on the cd release kept it on a few pressings on the cassette & vinyl releases though there's also a unedited version never been released.

the tracks "Hi Side", "Family Affair" "My Bitch" were supposed to be on Ridin Dirty as well

Hi Side later went to E-40s comp "Southwest Riders"

Family Affair would apper years later on Cash Money's "Baller Blockin" soundtrack

My Bitch would be featured on MDDL FNGZ debut album "TROUBLE"

the real name of "Diamonds & Wood" is Diamonds Up Against That Wood

"One Day" was intended for 3-2's solo album "The Wicked Buddah Baby" while "Do You Wanna Ride" was intended for "Ridin Dirty" for some reason they traded songs.

Remixes: One Day but remains unreleased

Videos: none

Dirty Money:
01. Let Me See It
02. Choppin' Blades
03. Look At Me
04. Ain't That A Bitch (Ask Yourself) ft Devin The Dude
05. Gold Grill ft Eightball & M.J.G.
06. P.A. Ni**a
07. Holdin' Na ft C-Note of Botany Boyz
08. Don't Say Shit ft Big Gipp of Goodie Mob
09. Dirty Money
10. Like A Pimp
11. Pimpin Ain't No Illusion ft Too Short & Kool Ace
12. Take It Off
13. Woodwheel
14. Money, Hoes & Power ft Jermaine Dupri

After 5 years of recording and delays, the album "Dirty Money" dropped November 9,2001. Jive had over 35 tracks to choose from and chose some of the weaker tracks. songs with Big Boi & Khujo, E-40 and B-Legit (not the track from that Corruptor soundtrack but a new track), newer tracks with Too Short, Scarface, and Smoke D got cut off and left in the vaults. The engineer out of spite had edited the Devin track due to "too much cussing" allthough the label claims the artists wouldnt clear the sample due to the exetreme content but new A&R at Jive denied that rumor. Other tracks were slightly changed without Bun's or Pimp's consents. Also sidenote I know how ever says track 6 beat was wack and C could have produced better that beat was made by N.O. Joe.

Remixes: none

Videos: (allthough not for the album) Take It Off and Woodwheel

^classic record.

09-07-2010, 12:28 PM
^forgot about this shit, bun murders this track.

It's Bun B and I'm P.A.'s own
P.A.'s trillest, chillin in my P.A. zone
I heard em try and say that P.A.'s gone
You heard wrong motherfucker cause P.A.'s home
And on the real we never left like the right of way
We servin and swervin from dusk to first light of day
You got that good? Playa light away
For Pimp we gon' ride and sip and smoke our whole night away
And I don't light a J, I fire up the ass end
Of the blunt, take a hit and get to passin
You wanna hit it? Nope don't even get to askin'
Cause it's a close circle, don't try to jump your ass in at all
You need more weight or leverage
I lay you down you ain't gettin up unless you was givin every
CD like the District of Columbia flipped
So I'm really hopin that none of ya'll trip because I'm
Back in the Go mode

09-07-2010, 12:33 PM
^^Real shit. One of my favorite dead prez joints. One of my favorite Bun B verses.

09-07-2010, 01:04 PM
ridin' dirty= top 10 album for me

09-07-2010, 01:17 PM
the common misconception wit ugk is that bun was the rapper, and pimp was the producer, but if you listen to some of they early shit, you can see pimp was the big brother lyrically and bun grew lyrically in each album

so dont get it twisted, pimp was never a slouch on the mic

and i always wondered why ridin' dirty never got a video, but it managed to go gold

09-07-2010, 01:20 PM
Not only that but Pimp could sing like a motherfucker. People thought it was background singers on Super Tight and shit. Nah that's Pimp singin on "Stoned Junkee." Even if people can't appreciate his lyrical ability, it's clear that the man was a legitimate musician. R.I.P. Pimp C

09-07-2010, 01:23 PM
cant forget that, most of the appeal from ugk for me is due to pimp c

rip pimp

09-07-2010, 02:48 PM

still lookin for a cdq version of the explicit one

09-07-2010, 04:26 PM
classic track right here

epic line by Bun:

Your homeboys lookin for ya, but yo' ass gone
You left your niggaz at the club and took all them hoes home

And didn't even fuck, man what the fuck
If you didn't want to fuck then get the fuck up out the truck

09-07-2010, 04:27 PM
^probably my favorite version of pocket full of stones. second favorite is the menace II society remix.

^classic track. didnt even know it was ugk at first. plus who would've thought that they'd do a track with keith murray and lord jamar? craziness.

09-07-2010, 05:51 PM

Chamillionaire is another dope rapper from Texas.

i dont be checking him out much but his albums and Mixtape Messiahs are good

09-07-2010, 05:54 PM
I havent checked for him since Mixtape Messiah 3 but I was a big fan. I doubt I'm gonna check out Venom if/when it drops though. His first two albums are bangin though. His album with Paul Wall is a classic and his mixtapes were crazy.

09-07-2010, 06:04 PM
i liked this track from Mixtape Messiah 4

LOL @ "Mo Murda Murda Mo Murda, Like I Like Bone"

09-07-2010, 06:13 PM
My favorite in the series was number 2. That shit was better than most niggaz albums and all the beats were jacked.

when he got out, he got all the Texas rappers that were beefing and got them to stop with the bullshit. that just shows how much he was respected. people reached out to him when they didnt need to. Chamillionaire gave him the red Cadillac that was in the Turn It Up video. plenty of rappers offered to do features for free.

Pimp always came nice on the features

09-08-2010, 11:21 PM
UGK is one of my all time favorite duos. Love 'em love 'em. Bun and Pimp's voices go so well together and they're one of the few groups that can actually put out a solid double album. Mainstream or Underground, they knew how to do it all. I met Bun B at a t-shirt release he did with The Hundreds and he was the nicest, most down to earth guy. He just handed me one of the shirts while I was waiting in line in the morning and signed it, didn't even have to pay for it.

I just spun these two tracks at a party I DJ'd last night and people went crazy.

09-08-2010, 11:31 PM
^hell yeah. I wish I could meet Bun. I wish I would've had a chance to meet the Pimp before he died. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Bun B for the way he held Pimp down when he was locked up and for the love and respect he's shown for Pimp and his family since he's been gone.

October 5th, so I hear.

09-09-2010, 10:32 PM
Nice. Lot's of good stuff coming out in October. Definitely picking up The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones now. New Celph Titled. New Pharaoh Monch. New Masta Killa. New 9th Prince. The New Alchemist Oh No Project, Gangrene. New album by Kno of CunninLynguists. New Canibus. New Mark Ronson with Q-Tip, Ghostface, Spank Rock and Pill and new Wisemen album. Honestly though this new Pimp C is in my top 2. I can't decide whether I want that or the Kno solo album more.

09-09-2010, 11:00 PM
I'mma have to pick up both of them. That Kno one is high up on my list too.
