if y'all didn't know by now fact is that John Legend has teamed up with The Roots to play the music and produce his next album "Wake Up"! the album sees Legend and the band re-invent a gang of classic tracks from three decades worth of music. This song which is called "Shine" is supposedly the only original song recorded for the project:

2dopeboyz also posted the so called "Wake Up! Sessions: The Originals", collecting all the songs intended to be covered for the album and upped them for stream and download. that should be a great spin looking at the tracklist!

This is gonna be amazing. Covering Baby Huey? Marvin Gaye? Roberta Flack? Donny Hathaway? Bill Withers??? This is destined to become a favorite of mine. John Legend is extremely talented and teaming up with The Roots is a good look for both of them. Can't wait.

exactly my thoughts, i always liked his voice and backed up by ?uestlove and The Roots producing and playing i know it's gonna be amazing. i really, really hope Black Thought is on at least a few of these. i saw "Straighten It Out" by Pete & CL was on there, i really hope Black Thought is ripping that with John Legend making hooks, bridges and all that. imagine BT doing a perfect CL imitation over a beat that is The Root's take on one of the early '90s finest hip-hop tracks.
