some other essential works include "One For the Trouble" by A.D.O.R., "It's Over" by Ghostface, "The Teacha's Back" by KRS-One/Marley Marl, four songs on ODB's "Osirius" tape, three songs on the Theodore Unit album, "Funkadelic Relic" (although credited to Marley) and "Year Of The Hip-Hop" by LL Cool J.
you do know that you can search my blog by label which will show all posts with that label:
yeah K-Def is easily one of the best producers out there, i've been a fan for years and it always bugged me how underrated he was and still is glad you found out about him though bro!
he got tons of shit, if you like to listen to instrumental albums (which i know you do) besides "Nightshift" he got his solo debut "Willie Bo Bo 'The Fool'" which is sick and he also released two volumes in a series called "Beats From the '90s" which is unreleased beats he made in the '90s.
in the mid '90s he was one half of a duo called Real Live and in 1996 they released "The Turnaround: A Long Awaited Drama" which he fully produced. the MC's name was Larry-O. it's a lost classic and out of print but you should definitely download. vintage boom bap masterpiece + it even has a posse cut with Ghostface, Killa Sin, Cappadonna, Lord Tariq and Larry O.
he was Marley Marl's partner in beats n did most of Tragedy's second album which is unbelivable.
i jumped the gun with the Asher Roth thing, 2Pac - never really was a fan, he's good, but not the greatest, Dre made a couple of good beats since Doggystyle, i'd probably get an album if i rounded up the best ones - besides Marshall Mathers LP, which is awesome, and no, i'm not an Eminem fan either, although he did kill everybody on the last 2 BET cyphers.....Southernplaya..& ATLiens are fantastic albums, after that...meh...........what can i say, i like Kris Kross & Da Brat, lol..........i freely admit i'm a Britney Spears fan, and would honestly rather listen to her than Nas, most new hip hop for that matter..........and No Limit & Cash Money, while its not my favourite shit, back in the 90's, they were heavy, they made what they made & didn't try to disguise the fact they were ignant as fuck !! lol....Lil Wayne is shit now though !!
the Rae, Ghost & Deck thing, was based on their last albums at the time, which was CL2 - garbage, only 1/2 of it is good in my opinion, i prefer Immobilarity......that horrible r'n'b album that Ghost did, maybe 3-4 songs on there worth anything :/ and i've never been a fan of Decks solo stuff, he can kill guest spots, and the odd solo track, but i dont think he's a solo album guy - although, i would like to see a Deck, U God & Masta Killa album like Wu Massacre - again a terrible album - its a shame when the artwork is better than the record :/
ok, Dilla does have some good beats, but for me personally, he's hit & miss, i just dont think he's as great as everyone make him out to be, but thats just my taste, but then again, theres a helluvalotta other producers out there that people put up on high, and i'm thinking "what, he looped up the inro to a soul song & added drums....i can do that in my sleep" lol....
Nas....in my opinion, Illmatic is clearly his best album, then I Am, then It Was Written, then i stopped being bothered about Nas after Gods Son, but i also like The Firm album & The Lost Tapes too :/
