Hey Brits... What's the deal with Spaced?

I watched the first 2 episodes on netflix because i'm a huge fan of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but it's been just ok. does it get better? the series is critically acclaimed, but i don't think it's that great. should i keep watching?

I would describe it as gentle humor. Its more enjoyable for the imaginative directing.
