Joey Badass is the future of hip-hop
When i first heard his name i thought he would be another Lil' Wayne. He doesn't only look like Pete Rock but this 18 year old kid got skills and brings back the sound of the 90's we all grew up with. You all need to check out his mixtapes. Here's a track for ya'll: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv658...&feature=share

I remember introducing this board to the kid.
He's not really the future. He only appeals to a niche of listeners who want that nosalgic sound. |
Yes indeed the kid is ill ! He has a bright future. He just needs guidance.
|
The Future is not a kid who sounds like a throwback. In order to be the future you have to be introducing something new to game and moving it forward, all this kid is doing is making music that sounds like a lesser quality version of records that came out 20 years ago. I like it, being that I'm about to turn 30 and it sounds nostalgic to me, but he aint gonna move the game forward with what he's doing.
|
Im turning 30 next month dude ! You not teaching me anything i dont know. This kid got buzz as we speak. Every station in NY has been inviting him and he has the internet going nuts at the moment. He is definitely the future because he comes from this new generation. You want him to have some auto tune like Redman has been doing lately ? Or sound like ths dumb cats from the South.
This is pure skills right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nMeYVWNdfw |
no but you need to sound different to have an impact. if he uses autotune, gets premo beats, trap beats etc its all the same shit. we've heard it before.
|
Ya'll a bunch of haters ! seriously. This is as real as it gets. Anyway who cares about the opinion of a Wu Corp member ? Whether ya'll like it or not; this kid is about to have an impact in the game.
|
i think hes good, but if he makes records that sound like lord finesse records from 1993, how exactly is he the future?

Quote:
You seem oblivious or stubborn to the fact that he isn't bringing anything new to the table that would actually progress or change the direction of HipHop. |
i love his work and 1999 was a great mixtape.....unfortunately he wont appeal to much mainstream nowadays
|
This genre is now in the hands of the tumblr-instagram-snapchat generation
They will dictate the sound and that bothers the hell out of most of you lol |
Jay-Z wants to sign him. I hope this never happens. I keep telling ya'll that he is the future but he shouldn't sign with Jay though. http://www.complex.com/music/2012/12...ith-roc-nation

But Lil B killed his career before it even began.
|
yeah lil b basically.
i mean imagine the amount of people hes influenced already. 5-10 years from now, when new rappers are asked their influences, his will be one of the first names to come up. |
