I just got it and what to know what other people think. oh and I got ciardi's translation.

Its a very well written piece of fiction. It inspires countless other works, so its a great to know if your in to analyzing other works of liturature, as a student or a critic.

well iono if I would classify it as fiction. dante did make it clear that it was him going through hell guided by virgil so I don't know if I should classify it as fiction or a auto-biography by a guy who was probably insane.

Well if your going for technicality it's can't be classified as either fiction or auto-biography, it's an epic poem.
