lets talk AL & NL MVPs
for NL, i have to go with Andruw Jones....i'm aware of Derek Lee and Albert Pujols, but let's take a look at this for a moment. Lee's Cubs aren't making the playoffs, so right there Lee doesn't have much of a case...Chicago obviously needs some other valuable player to take the Cubs to the playoffs (if Garciaparra had been healthy all season, and Ramirez was still in the lineup, maybe they'd be in the wild card race), so it boils down to Pujols vs. Jones. Pujols has more support than Jones, and he's not the Gold Glove fielder that Jones is. AJ has put the Atlanta team on his back and carried them throughout, regardless of Chipper's injuries and the unstable situation in finding everyday fielders to the left and right of Jones. he does it all, on offense and defense...and he'll probably end up with 50+ home runs by the end of the year. have to give it to him...
as for the AL, its not as clear, at least not to me...i feel that Ortiz and Ramirez kind of cancel eachother out in the AL MVP race, so i can't nominate a red sock for the award. similar situation with A-Rod and Sheffield...i'd cite three players in the thick of the AL MVP race: Vladimir Guerrero, Victor Martinez and Paul Konerko. Vlad has carried the Angels, and they are considerably better when he's on the field. Paul Konerko has been the primary power hitter in the W. Sox lineup, so he should certainly be considered. and how about V. Martinez? he's the catcher for Cleveland, and he had a horrible first half of the season...since, he's raised his average about 60 points, hitting for average as well as power, his resurgence corresponding with the Indians' surge. he's a sleeper, and i'm tempted to give it to him in the AL. who are your candidates? |

Re: lets talk AL & NL MVPs
nl is definetley andruw jones, hes ahead of everyone in hr's and rbi's and that, along with wins, is what is really important for mvp voting. Plus hes got the name recognition to win it. In the al, i really dont know. Ortiz and ramirez have mvp numbers but they dont have the hype. Arod has the numbers but has been getting trashed in the media this year.

Re: lets talk AL & NL MVPs
Joes defenetly MVP for NL. He has carried the braves all year. with Chip being out for a while, they were still winnig games. He also comforts his fellow Outfeilders. Anything he can get too, he catches. I think Manny Will take the AL. has he had a dissapointing season ever??

Re: lets talk AL & NL MVPs
manny is solid forever...but ortiz is equally as valuable to the sox, so i couldnt really choose either one. their numbers are identical...awesome 1-2 punch. same type of thing with a-rod...he has matsui, jeter, and sheff!!

Re: lets talk AL & NL MVPs
imma go with my man Manny!! in the AL
Jones no doubt in the NL Roger Clemens or Pedro Martinez hopefully will be ontop of the Cy Young race! |

NL:
andruw jones average too low maybe miguel cabrera off the marlins and i guess you gotta talk pujols or maybe even chris carpenter off st. louis darkhorse: carlos lee off the brewers AL: fuck thats tough michael young? vlad? i dont wanna say anybody off the red sox or yanks its gonna be tight peace |
Re: lets talk AL & NL MVPs
Ok in the rules it says u shouldnt judge the MVPs by how many games their team has won. so it should be AL-A-Rod and NL-Derrek Lee

those are good points its just tough looking at that low average on the real tho - 50 homeruns in a post-steroid league is pretty incredible and without that contribution then ATL would get hurt a bit i got a feelin tho that the braves roster could die in a plane crash and bobby cox would still some how trick a roster of retards to play well enuf to get into the post season i agree with what you say about pujols too thats why i kind of lean toward cabrera |
Re: lets talk AL & NL MVPs
yeah cabrera is a good candidate...but AJ doesnt have a delgado, encarnacion, or paul lo duca.
and yeah, Vlad is a solid contender too. |
Re: lets talk AL & NL MVPs
yeah
i think my mind has been officially changed its hard to go against andruw jones |
