looks like it may finally be coming:

A new website registered by Bethesda may possibly make a Fallout-related announcement—or some announcement—coming December 11, users on Reddit report.

Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media registered the domain “thesurvivor2299.com” yesterday, November 13. The page right now is completely blank, black, but accompanied by beeping that users have since learned is Morse code. When translated, the code spells out “11.12.13.” When inspecting the page’s code, a line reveals that the order represents DD/MM/YYYY “for European and American sites.”

Speculation is that “The Survivor” is the name of the player-character in Fallout 4, since its style is in the same vein as “Vault Dweller,” “Chosen One,” “Lone Wanderer,” and “Courier.” The number, 2299, is believed to be the year Fallout 4 takes place. Fallout 3 took place 2277, while Fallout: New Vegas took place 2281.

Oh, and there’s also Specific reference to fallout contained within the page’s script: “http://thesurvivor2299.com/fallout.js.” So there’s that.

Rumors surrounding Fallout 4 have been surfacing for years. Bethesda senior producer Jason Bergman teased the Mojave Wasteland, while roughly a year ago Bethesda scouts were seen checking out the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, pointing to a Boston-set Fallout 4.

Commence the speculation, conspiracy theory, and excitement.

Update: The site has now gone live. On it, there is a countdown clock ticking away to December 11, so at least we can say, for sure, some sort of announcement will go down that day. I still feel pretty confident it’ll be Fallout-related, though that remains unconfirmed.
