It's nice to see Wu-Tang go back underground in 2011. Relevancy in the eyes of mainstream society is so overrated.

both these albums would be at least top 15 for me this year.

    38. Kool G Rap
    Riches, Royalty, Respect (Fat Beats)
The greatest rapper who ever copped to working at Key Food in rhyme, Queens legend Kool G Rap claimed his best work back in hip-hop's fabled late-'80s Golden Age. His 2011 reintro may be centered around Blaxploitation-era tropes, but at no point does a man who's been cited as an influence by Jay-Z and Biggie sound outdated. Kool G Rap still kicks cinematic street sermons with aplomb and tricky rhyme schemes, but here the intensity of his flow is smartly tempered by production that samples from '70s soul. It's hip-hop embracing nostalgia in the right way

    32. Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire
    Lost In Translation (Mishka)
Brooklyn stick-up kid mentality, lyrical heft of Biggie Smalls, an Ol' Dirty Bastard slur, and enough Georgi vodka to floor the owner of a Russian bath: Meet Mr. eXquire, and "don't forget the 'Muthafuckin'" — without that it's nothin'." On Lost in Translation, eXquire dreams of being both Sam Spade and the Incredible Hulk to the sound of New York sci-fi ruin, courtesy of producers El-P and Necro. He'll rob you and blow the money on fried chicken, french fries, and a stack of comic books. Then he'll hire a porn star for the video shoot.

but fuck it. at least they're getting a little praise out here.

no bronson. he put out 2 dope albums this year.

a lot of shit on here i aint heard yet, though.

I think Kool G's album is the best crime album to come out in past few years, btter than Linx 2, better than Marcberg, and those are great joints

    thats who.
The earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.

People are too stupid to effectively conspire to do anything, but not too stupid to come up with conspiracy theories.

I thought the beats on the kool g album were real dope, and I thought he really came correct lyrically. As always.

I love those two albums and have listened to em more, but I just think Kool G's is better. Everything about it is top notch in my book. I think the beats on Marcberg/Linx 2 were probably a little better but he's just the best mc of the three. Plus it's not like he had mediocre beats, he had dave west, marley marl, etc.
