Ya, I agree wit Rob and have said the same thing in the past. Especially, since most peeps have cell phones (and internet connection on them), even if the school text book sucks, there is just no excuse. There probably never was, even before these things. I use scribd sometimes. There is so much info out there and the medium is mostly irrelevant.

Text book publishers are starting to use apple's new publishing platform to deliver their product to the ibook store

The days of outdated material in class rooms will soon be a distant memory

Yea I was reading about that I-DOSER program that you play 'binaural audio drugs' with. But after looking it up on youtube and seeing all the dumb ass teenage kids doing it I lost interest. I'd rather do the real thing.

No, its more or less a site that a non profit put together with the intention of improving education around the world.

Employers still want GEDS, Degrees, or certifications at the end of the day.

The mind behind Khan Academy is genius, easy to follow and understand. So many subjects too. For math, you can learn every section of let's say, Calculus easily. Amazing the way they break it down.

They released their iPad app today, which is the best way to go through lessons in my opinion. You can store videos offline in case you cant get a connection. Plus it syncs your progress between devices in case you wanna pick up where you left off using a phone.

^this site I check weekly. It's not necessarily an academic site like everything posted above, but there are plenty of interesting articles to read or documentaries added daily. The community is invite only, but you can still view everything.

*scroll down to the footer and you'll see just how immense of an archive they have put together.
