what this guy said. just took me three posts to say it, apparently.

and yeah, 11 albums in, blah, blah, blah. still a fact he's a great clone of Deck, just not better than the original. besides, he came out ten years after Deck did. qwel had plenty of time to practice his biting skills.

no credit to chompers, tell the white boy to get his own style and maybe he'd qwelify for this convo.
    weep for lost babylon,
the bleeding god, the forgotten sheep slaughtered in a forest of evil fog
bordered by a sea of faults,
fleeing mobs turn to see the holocaust and become kings and queens of salt
    screaming shots, police and chalk,
wingless fallen demons walking among us as people...

    "I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies
and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these
    mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery
Flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me
Battle-scarred shogun, explosion when my pen hits
    tremendous, ultra-violet shine blind forensics
I inspect you, through the future see millenium
Killa B's sold fifty gold sixty platinum
Shacklin the masses with drastic rap tactics
Graphic displays melt the steel like blacksmiths
Black Wu jackets queen B's ease the guns in
Rumble with patrolmen, tear gas laced the function
Heads by the score take flight incite a war
Chicks hit the floor, diehard fans demand more
Behold the bold soldier, control the globe slowly
Proceeds to blow swingin swords like Shinobi
Stomp grounds and pound footprints in solid rock
Wu got it locked, performin live on your hottest block"

This was the first verse I ever heard from the Wu-Tang Clan and I instantly fell in love.

    I would say yes.

Funny, this doesn’t feel like the long path to Monday
Save the mundane, stomached and run along all lined and one lane
They debated once, the top moss even understood that the gate swung the one way
Thunderin hinges hinged for fund’s sake
    So snakes get gun
and we get one ways to walk along or get the run-around
sun spun about the sun rays
son spots touch the ground runnin
sung a song about a Sunday
    rung around the wristchips
but punch the punchclock tock in the smug face
his retort sorta slurred from blunt fangs, please bare with me people
    he sang,
    “cant you heave more,
you can be the one to reward,
    one, two, three, four
plus you’ll need us just as much as we need you to use your muscles so listen
once you reach for what you reach for you’ll seek more and need more and be more and be important to the work force mister
missed her shot again and hit her in the midst of her liftin blisters
whispered six tics that made her cringed figure whimper with a shiver
go get those splinters on your own time go find gold mines hope I don’t find you in me
human being consumed in greed and dude just thinks it’s winter
funny but it feels more like a Tuesday two ways to tweek it money
a few days straight to the weekend hungry
clumsy with his reach hence sixth sensed it coming
to the tune of something and second comings
and everybody standing and gurgling assuming it was money singing
but won’t you help us to help you spell this world a better market
art to sell you self sufficient hardened godless charred and chopped in startin blocks
crops for rocks and garden props or stop to chart it
garbage plots slop to harvest bartered stocks and living breathing children
    killing children
    building it higher
fire spilling out of the sides and climbing back up to the top again
or toppling in his hot descent
    with target in his altitude
just found it out this afternoon
and ain’t been back since third smoke break or so
heard jo say “that he was wrath consumed”
oozed a laugh through his gaseous fumes
hacked and hobbled past the masters
    smashed battered black and blue
    grab that ladder
    graspin bruise
if they’d have him rack his wrists just stackin bricks past the astral blue
he’d rather catch it master view and with a laugh and a leap he’d ask of you..
“when the rains fell was the pain felt
Enough to make the masses move?”
Tuesday passes hump day fast on “just imagine someday’s” avenues
Packs of mules and plastic schools the fattest cracked stools
To catch it babel view who asks “whats it matter, he aint mad at you?”
Just had it through with stackin scaffold passed as dues
Scuffed and clattered sqeaks numb his thumb cling to rusted ladder rungs
“Just imagine em” run and scatter, “that a bum”
now stack em up where the splatter was
fashionably sad, but not an option
watch em get docked to add it up
flash back to smoke break smash the butt
hold the last drag a sec or fashion up
    stretch crack your neck
shuffle past the gaggin mass of flesh
the whole mob mad intense and mob focusin
    “on what?” he asks
somebody dares to laugh, “a job opening,
and I’m hoping if the ladder craftsman postion isn’t loaded with a quota to piss
then I can hold it can mold it in golden control of control and I’ll open with this…
‘I can heave more bricks than a corps of war pics and a four horse lift
I can be your I can heave more
    One to reward
    One, two, three, four
I can eat more shit than a corps of war pigs and endure more miles
I can clip more boards than a four armed hoard and adore more chips
I can stack more stacks than a tour whore pimp with a four four smile’”
Who knows what a minutes might do when they pay by the mile
And the kids are right right and the bricks are tight tippin to the inner light
Bright when it hit us right when it hit us
    Height with a sight limit
    Living life isn’t flight
Shit, hit em like a grip of bricks
And his slippin grip made em feel all high and mighty
Friday nightly be kinda flighty, more lightening like though
    Slowly and slightly overworked
    Used
    Workhorse bruised
    empty
    Dead doornailed
    Babylonian
    “Only ifs”
Dripping through his head in twos

INS will be spoken of as a legendary wu member decades after qwel is completely forgotten by the average hip hopper, assuming they ever knew his name in the first place

deck has verses that 90% of any given hip hop crowd knows by heart

shut the fuck up about that qweer dude already, nobody cares
the song CREAM eclipses qwel's whole career

Qwel is dope, he dropped more dope solo albums than Deck, but u can't compare them

but I wouldn't call one or the other an all time great

maybe if Deck never made those awfully average solo albums, maybe

    --------------------
and again I'm not surprised how WuCorp don't know about Qwel... I love the Typical Cats albums, that shit was dope, peace to Qwazaar, who is my fav. from that group

    ^ Hipster.

    To answer the OP: no.
"The Devil is not the Prince of Matter; the Devil is the arrogance of the spirit, faith without smile, truth that is never seized by doubt. The Devil is grim because he knows where he is going, and, in moving, he always returns whence he came."

Deck hasn't really done anything major, honestly. It's true.

Deck is an awesome lyricist who lacks the resources and direction to be a great solo artist.

It's too bad he can't link up with a producer who gets him to put out an LP.

It's too bad that didn't happen on Uncontrolled - that was when he was in his prime. Now it seems like he has nothing new to say.

Without any direction, he's very hit and miss solo-wise.

Which means no, he isn't an all-time great, but is part of a group that's an all-time great, so he has that going for him, which is nice.

Percee P is a legendary rapper.
He's not an alltime great. As an artist, he's rather weak tbh.

The same applies a bit for Deck imho. And like 5Kut pointed out, his charisma is hella weak. He had energy and hunger to make it work for his first group albums, but once we were out in the 2000s, he has shown that he should stick to being a team player.

So my vote is no. He's a part of an alltime great unit, and got some alltime great verses, but he's not an alltime great.

    no charisma? really?

you gonna tell me his verses on iron flag lacked charisma? there was no energy in those verses? what about on "take it back", "black mozart", "rockstars", "blast off", that nasty remix. you falling to sleep on those verses? wow! im left scratching my head when people say dude fell off and cant rhyme anymore.

his solo work suffers from poor beat selection which has nothing to do with his pen game which has always been on point. no one is listening though because the beats are terrible. thats one him, he has to get better production but that hasnt stopped him from continuing to rip the mic up.

how can you have classic verses for days and not be an all time great? im not saying he's top 10 but he's a first ballot hall of fame MC.
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. (Romans 1:18-20)
