Cleveland hero Charles Ramsey gets free burgers
Several Cleveland-area restaurants have come together to create a unique prize for a man praised for helping save three women held captive for more than a decade.
Charles Ramsey helped call 911 when he discovered the distress of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, Michelle Knight and a child, in a house in Cleveland, Ohio. Ramsey said he was eating McDonald's when he heard the commotion at the house next door.
When the news broke, many on social media called for Ramsey to receive McDonald's for life, but local establishments have stepped up. More than a dozen local restaurants have chipped in to create the Chuck Card, valid for a burger at the participating restaurants.
"He stopped his meal midway though to help those women. We're now making sure he has other opportunities to go out and fully enjoy his burger," Scott Kuhn, who owns four of the participating restaurants, told Cleveland.com
Ramsey will be formally presented the card when he returns to Cleveland from travelling.
