Have I just been unlucky with my last couple of laptops, or have disc drives pretty much become obsolete, inoperative technology? With my last 2 laptops (both Asus), and maybe even the one before, the disc drives just don't work properly. I'll put a disc in, audio cd, dvd, computer disc, whatever, and nothing happens. So I'll go to "my computer" and it won't be showing that there's a disc in the drive, so I'll click the icon for the drive and it'll load for a few minutes and then ask if I want to operate that drive as usb or some bullshit, and I'll fuck that off and then eventually it will either recognise the disc or just do nothing.
It is ALWAYS a headache. I can never just put a disc in and it'll open straight away. And even once it's recognised the disc it often won't run properly. Like trying to watch a dvd is just a nightmare. If you try to pause it the computer just can't handle it when you try to start it again. Like it'll freeze or just hang forever before finally playing the disc again. It's just fucken ridiculous.
What is this backwards shit? I remember like a decade ago when disc drives in laptops worked fine. This computer is pretty much new and the disc drive has been fucked from day one. Same with my last laptop. Is it just me, or is this a common problem?
