Default Thoughts on having a laugh track on shows

I usually like when sitcoms and other types of shows have a laugh track, or some form of combo with a laugh track/live studio audience. Yeah it can be overdone sometimes, but it can feel odd watching a show that is supposed to have some laughs without any type of laugh track.

To each their own, I could do without laugh tracks. But I guess we're all pretty much used to them, there's some conditioning going on there.

Sitcom producers are playing it safe with those laugh tracks though.

Can you name any good (mainstream) sitcoms without a laugh track? I'd be interested.

Theres quite a few sitcoms without a laugh track: The Office, 30 Rock, South Park, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Its Always Sunny and basically any other single camera shows.

The laugh track is used as a psychological trick where it makes you laugh more or think the show is funnier. I could do without it but its not a big deal, probably my favorite 2 sitcoms are Cheers and Seinfeld and the laugh track never bothered me.

Either works, but I was watching a show once which took them out for the later series' and the show didn't sound right from that point on to me.
