Religion was never forced in this movie. It's a quintessential Superman movie, a story that has had biblical themes since its beginning.

I always liked the idea of Superman as an earthbound god, not as just a really fast and strong man.

To each his own, this was the perfect superhero movie to me.

As for myself: I had come to the conclusion that there was nothing sacred about myself or any human being, that we were all machines, doomed to collide and collide and collide.

It's a christian movie, thats fine. But hello, the whole movie has christ like references, and as a viewer, it did seem as though the film was saying christ is coming and we should appraise him. As soon as Superman returns people are praising him like he is their savior. So, yeah it has a froced upon religion on the viewer.

Dont do that to me. Do not tell me who and what Jesus is all about. Make a fucking good comicbook movie. If I want christ in my life, I'll go to church.

And yes , I agree that the whole Jesus thing has been in the Superman legacy since its beginning, but I want a good movie. And it wasn't good. There was no one that can hold up against Superman, and the whole lois thing was his fault. The film made their characters into really pathetic figures to look up to. And the opening of the movie to justify the subplot of him leaving and returning was really stupid. I mean they explain it a text format. The movie opens with text on why he left. There was no point really in doing that, cause he right away leaves to see if Krypton is still there. I mean, if he loves the people of Earth so much. He would of thought about the fact that he may never return if it still exist. You love Earth so much, you wouldn't abandon its people. There would have been a different way of dealing with that bad subplot in the script.

I know, but thats the "me not knowing anything about superman" review. i also said as a comicbook collector and fan, it sucks. I apologize for contradicting, but the film is well made. I just dont like the idea of it. My first post said those two things. Honestly though, watch the film on your own merit. I left the theatre unsatisfied.

After thinking about it, yeah its not that bad. But its not good either. Its doesn't feel like Superman. It feels like a love story with Christ like references. I dont want that, its not for me.

Subtext is going to be in any Superhero movie if it's done right. Look at the X-Men's rather blatant homosexual undertones.

It worked for me, because the last thing I want from a Superhero movie is a mindless comic book put to live action. Besides, die hard comic fans are the last people that should have any say in what goes on in a movie.

You say it didn't feel like Superman, I disagree 100%. It was wholly Superman. Superman doesn't belong to comic fans, he never did. The comics hardly ever got Superman right.

So I don't want a million obscure comic book references so the geeks can elbow each other in the movie theaters.

I don't want Superman to HAVE to battle at least 2 villains each movie.

All I want is good SE, good acting, action, a story that has some thought put into it, and plenty of cool scenes of Superman doing what he do.

Superman is NOT a comicbook, ok. The movie sucked stop trying to amit that it didn't. You liked it cause it fits you. I want a good action flick. There was no action exceopt the shuttle scene and him doing little tedious task like blowing fire out. WOW, thanks Bryan Singer.

Superman is not a comic book??
what was your point in even saying that?

The movie did not suck, stop acting like a child, saying that I don't want to admit it. I couldn't care less if f you like it or not, but I don't need to apologize for liking it. I paid to see a good movie, I saw one. I win.

"The movie sucked stop trying to amit that it didn't"

very subjective. to each his own, different ppl look for different things. i think yall are overanalyzing the whole 'biblical' aspect, i mean...the other superman movies had the same 'biblical' overtone.
