    Nas obviously....

I enjoy Rakim a lot too, but his albums are very overrated.

im not voting on this cuz i havent heard much of rakim's catalog(heard every nas album except for street disciple) but i listened to the god almighty paid in full and didnt think it was all that impressive. follow the leader wasnt much better. those albums came out in a different musical era.

however i listened to the 18th letter and was blown away by how ill rakim was on it.

its hard to compare eras. paid in full came out in a time where everyone wasnt on that high lyrical shit and everybody and their moma wasnt trying to be an MC.

i dont think that if PIF came out today that people would say its the god album.

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. (Romans 1:18-20)

very difficult to say who's better. for those that say Nas is eeons ahead of Rakim is str8 up ridiculous. obviously you must be under 25 or had your head in the sand when Rakim was ringing bells in the mid 80s. Rakim came out in a different era. it was different times in NYC between the 80s and 90s. Rakim's debut was more of a bigger impact than Nas'. Nas lyrics are more advanced and that's because he took other rappers' forumlas and morphed into his own.

Point is it's close. But I fucks with Nas to the grave, I think he's more talented comparing him now and Rakim back then.

    Nas-
    Illmatic
    Nastradamus
    I am
    Stillmatic
    God's Son
    The Lost Tapes

    Rakim-
    Paid in Full
    Let the Rythm Hit'em
    Don't Sweat the Technique
    The 18th Letter
    The Master

You have in one hand Rakim most likely the best of the MC's that really revolutionized hip-hop
And Nas who modeled his idea of an MC after Rakim

The question is has the student in a way overtaken the master?
u forgot it was written and streets disciple
