Thread: Is there any updates on the Growth yet?

Default Is there any updates on the Growth yet?

Is DEF JAM going to ever release this album? I've been following def jam forever, they have always been my favorite label. But they really are making me sick lately. They need to release some real hip hop. I'm not blaming Jigga though, I really think it's LA Reid that's causing the hip hop drought at def jam. He was always about R&B.Enough of this R&B shit. Joe Buddens hasn't dropped and album in years and neither has REDMAN. What the fuck already def jam. I want to see you guys droping classics like it's the late 90's again.

MY THEORY: This is just my opinion but I think they thought they were going to be able to drop artirst like Christina Milan and rihanna and make a killing off them and then drop rappers like redamn and so forth when they could afford to lose a little money because they cleaned up on the R&B, but the R&B side din't really pop off and now they don't know what the fuck to do.

Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see The Growth. If you were the president at Def Jam would you really wanna release ANOTHER Joe Budden album??? Joe Budden's my favorite rapper but he's not marketable at all, everybody else thinks he's boring. He's got some diehard fans (and deservedly so) but after his first release, from a business standpoint, would you release another Budden LP?

Yeah I hear you from a business point of view. But if your just going to put him on the shelf you might as well just drop the album and not spend any money marketing it that way they don't lose money.
