    Papoose Signs to Jive Records

According to an announcement from Violator management, Brooklyn MC Papoose has inked a deal worth $1.5 million with Jive Records. The signing ends months of speculation over where the much-hyped mixtape regular would finally land. DJ Kay Slay, who first signed Papoose to his Streetsweepers Entertainment, has been throwing around the $1.5 million dollar figure in interviews for several weeks, and even went so far as to name the rapper’s last mixtape The 1.5 Million Dollar Man. Earlier this year, Kay Slay forged a deal with Busta Rhymes and Flipmode Squad in an attempt to pool resources and help secure the most favorable deal for the artist. Papoose was awarded Mixtape Artist of the Year at the 2005 Justo’s Mixtape Awards.

Think Pap can come with consistantly themed albums? How far can street testimony stretch. I guess there will always be a demand for this stuff tho. Jive is a good place for him. I wonder how many albums his deal is.

They gonna do Pap like they did Mobb Deep
In the world I see, you're stalking elk through the damp canyon forest around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty carpool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

Jive has done nothing but fuck up rappers trying to make a go of it, secondly you ask what other bad moves he's done? well how about joining with Busta, Have you seen any member of flipmode blow up except Busta?

Also Kay slay is gonna over saturate this kid before he even gets an album out.

For a mc like Papoose to really shine he needs the type of production by Premo, Just Blaze or maybe even the Beatnuts.

Last time I heard a hip hop jive release it was Mobb deeps album before they went to gey unit.

BTW, I thought he was signed to Busta's/Dre's label already?

not bad news, i just wonder like someone said before if pap has oversatuarted with all the material hes released. theres a line between promotion and wearing out your material. but i think he can hold down an album, should be interesting.
