    Default UK Hip-Hop

Just thought I'd give a shout to UK Hip-Hop. People looking for something a bit different from the stuff they been listening to should check some out:

    Task Force
Skinnyman (was on The World According to RZA)
    Foreign Beggars
    Roots Manuva
    Klashnekoff & Terrafirma
Jehst (done some shit with J-Zone)
    Yungun aka Essa
    Braintax
Diversion Tactics (did a track with Percee P & Tim Dog recently)
    Phi Life Cypher
    Lowkey (Poisonous Poets)
    Doc Brown (Poisonous Poets)
    Reveal (Poisonous Poets)
    Rodney P

Also I gotta give a shout to Foulmouth (Brighton's finest):

You need to do your research. There's loads of shit grime about, but every artist I listed is straight hip-hop. It's also refreshing to listen to someone talking about where I live and the things I see - there's only so much I can identify with stories about shootings on projects in NY.

Anyone who says Skinnyman, Task Force, Jehst, Yungun and Foreign Beggars are shit clearly hasn't heard their albums.

Stop watching Channel U and go to Kung-Fu @ Underworld in Camden Town on the third Tuesday of every month. There you'll learn that there's MCs getting up at the open mic who could rip most of the US sell out chart rappers to shreds.

I seen the Lowkey & Yungun track Politics Pt.2 gettin mad props from the US on the Hip-Hop Game site.

Jehst - Adventures In New Bohemia

"Who's the loveable rogue known to compose colourful prose?
I'm on the road til my footprints cover the globe,
I speak low with a lump in my throat , and a lung full of smoke,
Bunnin dope in my humble abode, it's bohemia,
Sepia tone memorabilia, soak up the media,
Day time TVs gettin kinda tedious,
    Trapped with the social deviants,
In the confines of my immediate,
Future is fruitless, I'm through duckin tutors,
Dust so thick it dates back to the Tudors,
Livin in student digs on tins of tuna,
Who spent the rent down the boozer?
We sip beers and split hairs over current affairs,
Any unwelcome guests get chucked down the stairs,
The place where I peddle my wares,
All the fun of the fair,
    B-boys hold down the square"

    Now that aint garage

I aint heard Moorish Delta 7 I gotta say, although I see they've worked with the producer Baby J who's done a load of work with Skinnyman.

I think Dizzee (and Sway) are on the more garagey side of UK hip-hop - not really my thing although I'd never say he was crap (all those trying to sound like him are another story).

I recommend anyone interested checks out these albums:

Task Force - Music From The Corner 3
Skinnyman - Council Estate Of Mind
    Foreign Beggars - Asylum Speakers

There's been loads of producers holdin it up for the UK worldwide for ages now like Vadim, DJ Format, Herbaliser and others but a lot of their work is with MCs from across the pond. I reckon we've now got the MCs to stand up worldwide.
